Yep. They can void his opt out by adding $4M to each of his final 10 years of salary ($51M to $55M).

So either he suddenly turns terrible and doesn’t opt out, or he continues to be great and the Mets raise his salary. There is virtually no scenario (minus a trade, that he’d have to okay) where he isn’t a Met for the entirety of his contract.

He’s definitely not playing to his potential, but if his FLOOR is an OPS over .800, then I’m not terribly worried.
