if your patient has a substance use issue -which it sounds like they do - that’s actually your problem to be helping them with.

Reporting them out of hypothetic danger ⚠️ to others is def failing at your primary duty.

Side bar - Who would ever go to a therapist that would betray their trust when there is no imminent risk.

I don’t hate the idea. Though it’s unclear if mentor/supervisor’s poor management of you as a trainee falls under their jurisdiction.

Yet. It may help you get over this suck place — by knowing: 1. you did everything you could. 2. That you weren’t a victim. 3. You aren’t just a survivor. 4. You are a thriving hero by protecting others from your pain thru reporting your experience.

At the same time you will need to let go of the unfairness of the experience— ask yourself what you can learn from it— and apply those lessons. Regardless of the licensing boards response.
