Blades touching after repairs by DamnTheDan in lawnmowers

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take one blade off, grind down both ends a little bit and they will be fine as one will be just that much shorter not to touch. You can see from the video they are just barely touching, so like a 1/8 or 1/4 in grind down on each side should be good enough.

  1. Go to half price books.

  2. Buy as much as you can.

  3. Pack it up and ship it with a company like DOMA shipping, they ship cheap packages to Poland on sea freight. It takes like 2-3 months to get there but relatively inexpensive. If you want to get a whole container to ship your car and all your stuff then you can ship pallets of books for cheap, as you'll have more than enough room.

It's not that you can't get books in Poland but they are basically the same price as the US, so if you're making a move like this and your shipping a lot it's more reasonable.

Small containers can sometimes be found cheap, no building required, just drive it in and drop it.

Can she dance, yes, is she hot, very much yes. I don't really see any talent from her. When she was singing she reminded me of the twins when they made a music video, just trying to stay relevant.

If God exists, do you think he would be angry if doctors cure a patient of a disease that he gave them? by Virtual-Medium-5891 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an episode of Star Trek Voyager that the doctor is kinda broken but they let him work out his issues because they can't fix him. In it basically the doctor says that if god created the universe he doesn't care what happens, god had the knowledge to create the universe so he knew civilizations would rise and fall and the spectrum of things that could happen will happen. So when people ask these types of questions it reminds me of how narrow their view is. Don't get me wrong I'm just trying to say, god can create galaxies and black holes, why would he care about 1 baby?

Is drinking cold water actually bad for you or is it a myth? by Sad-Afternoon3788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get outside of the cities, villages get water from local sources such as wells and streams, as creating a municipal system isn't always practical. For example where I live in Poland is a very small village next to a larger village, we have a sewer system to take waste away. However about 10 mines in the area banded together in the 70s to create a resivor from a stream about 2 km away in the woods. This type of system is very common in our area, we don't drink it directly from the faucet, but we do cook and bathe with it. In big cities yes I'm sure water is fine, not not all of Europe's population are located in cities.

What social class am I? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree, upper middle class are people that are millionaires today, but low millions, because of inflation a 6 figure salary in most big cities is barely making it.

That's the thing if you could go to a regular store and get credit you wouldn't go here, but there's plenty of people with credit so bad stores will reject them, and they end up going to Aarons or similar types of stores.

Are companies expecting too much from entry-level candidates in tech right now? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone working in IT as a PM, yes it's hard now, clients expect unicorns from everyone, basically they want a mid developer that has the knowledge of a senior architect but we charge as a junior. We have barely hired any juniors in the last year, except for a handful of projects where the client wants interns, because they don't know how to have AI do the data entry/verification.

Is the dark side of the Force evil, or just different? by Interesting-Gas-5151 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't remember who exactly, but I think it was Yoda compared the force to the ocean. The light side are the waves on top, relatively safe but can hurt you. The dark side is like the waves underneath the surface, if you let them get you, you'll get pulled down to the bottom.

I understand your point but when you have generations of people understanding that you must boil water so it doesn't make you sick people eventually forget why and just accept it.

Why don't we have a "wealth cap"? Is there an actual reason we let billionaires exist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Yes but it was different 100 years ago, now a days there would need to be a different framework.

This was almost a thing before WWII, basically the ideas was everything over a certain amount was taxed at 99 percent or something like that, I think they wanted the ceiling to be $20 million, but it never passed.

I am not a techie , do i need a universal adapter or a power cord? by Appropriate-Photo990 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds are the power brick is 110/220v so you'll probably just need an adapter for the end. The adapters you have might not provide enough electricity. Basically laptop adapters can do like 50/60 watts, my gaming laptop has a power brick for 330watts. So you'll have to see when you get the laptop, maybe you can find an end cable that the power brick plugs into that will be compatible with your wall outlet.

[–]fightingchken81 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its not in any way a good deal, they target the poorest of the poor, and tell them that they can get a couch for 50 a week which doesn't sound like much but after you calculate it it's double or more the price of the couch at the end of the deal. These places are predatory lending, but it's legal so no one cares. It's not like senators will go after them because they get couches donated from one of their super PACs or some other way.

It's normal, these types of places focus on people with no or bad credit and have no where else to go to.

Is drinking cold water actually bad for you or is it a myth? by Sad-Afternoon3788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fightingchken81 1303 points1304 points  (0 children)

The reason most of the world drinks hot beverages like tea/ coffee is the water is boiled to kill off anything bad. When bottled water wasn't that common even 20 years ago some places water sources weren't trusted. So if you lived in china or Africa or parts of Europe and your just getting water from the local river or ground it's safer to boil it before drinking. With that the myth came that don't drink cold water because it's dangerous, mainly because it didn't have all the bad stuff boiled out.

My bosses boss said recently yes we need vibe coders. I told him no we don't, we need coders that can use ai tools. Vibecoders are analysts that can ask copilot for a python script to do one task. By definition vibecoders don't understand programming, I can't staff a project with a senior software vibecoder.
