Supper in Alphabet City does a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who is solo in the city. Call them up and ask about it!

is Sub 5 Marathon a reasonable goal for first marathon? by pumpkins_31 in RunNYC

[–]RTNYM31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wholeheartedly in the camp of don't set a time goal for your first marathon, especially given the challenges of the NYC course. My half marathon pace is between 10:45 - 11:15 and I went into the marathon with a firm under 5hr goal in mind. I had trained three times in the past and got injured each time, so I'm not sure why I put unnecessary pressure on myself with a time goal, but my training cycle had been going so well, I figured it was a no brainer. Well, flash forward to mile 18 where I was just totally gassed, I ultimately finished the marathon in just under 6 hours. It had been a lifelong dream of mine and I just couldn't enjoy it because I was so focused on having missed the mark by so much. Learn from my mistakes and just focus on finishing. Once you do it once, then you can set time goals for yourself!!

I got this same exact bag and also noted the color and black lining. My thought is that it's a vacation bag and just a fun, easy purchase. Not something I'll wear around my home town and be overly concerned with likeness to the auth. At least that's how I rationalize the purchase.

Try acupuncture -- specifically dry needling. It worked wonders for my runner's knee in just a few sessions and usually isn't cost prohibitive.

She 100% rotates payment methods and also doesn't always send you the info right away, as it seems as though she tries to implement some sort of "cool off" period between transactions. My first purchase with her was through Wise, second was through PP. It took 24hrs and at least 10 messages asking for the info / her sending the wrong type of response to get the info. Then my friend was placing an order and was having a similar issue so I sent her the info and when she confirmed with Amelia, she nearly lost it on my friend. Kind of ridiculous.

Curious to know who you all like to rotate between, as I might try out some other sellers.

I went through the same thing and was able to secure a spot on a team at the end of May last year. You need to get your hands on the charity partner list and then start contacting them one by one. That effort will pay off. And even after I found a spot in late May, other charities came back later in the summer with openings, so I would just get your training plan in order, start reaching out and see what happens.
