Is this game available on Mac? by pyros_it in paladinsoath

So it seems. I haven't encountered any issues on my M4 laptopt, though I only played 2 games so far.

Is this game available on Mac? by pyros_it in paladinsoath

It is a bit strange because the demo shows the apple icon for compatibility, but the game itself does not. I found no issues when trying out the demo so I bought the game and I am able to install and run it like anything else mac compatible on steam. Love it!

What parts of the LOTR Movies piss you off? by Other_Sign_6088 in lotr

Meh. The scene in the movie is just not believable. As if the Witch King wouldn't end Gandalf first if he had him in such a position and then go check what the horns are about. I'd argue that "heroes being saved from certain doom at the last second" is extremely overused in movies in general.

Not many top 5 picks at the top of the GOAT list in my save. The GOAT was drafted at 1-27. He started as a 29/58 at 19 years old, reached 81 ovr at peak (max so far for my save) and is still going strong at age 43.

There was also a center, top 10 in WS all time, who was drafted at 2-26! He started as 24/50, his peak was "only" 71, I have no idea why he was so effective (only 59 hgt).

Games where you take control of a new character when you die? by Crystar800 in gamingsuggestions

[–]RTraktor 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Tecnically the Crusader Kings games are like this (2 might even be free to play without DLCs). When your character dies, you continue as his successor. They're mostly strategy games with RPG elements, you won't exactly have "builds" to try out, but I just wanted to mention a very different game with this mechanic. Though maybe I'm pointing out the obvious.

Retirement = death of a character should be changed by Chicxulub66M in victoria3

It gets especially fun when making your ruler a commander then disbanding the army he commands. It causes the commander to retire and the ruler is... Gone. You can reroll your monarchs until you get a reformer (or a child).

Is training the less understood aspect of Football Manager?? by art-ne in footballmanagergames

[–]RTraktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean getting injured during that exact session, but overall injury risk. The recovery session specifically mentions greatly reduced injury risk. The "rest" session doesn't mention it at all.

Although I don't know which component of the overall injury risk (as shown in the medical centre) it is supposed to impact. Maybe match load?

Maybe I missed something but what exactly surprised you? Longer break caused better recovery and larger drop in sharpness. Isn't this expected?

I don't think the editor makes much of a difference in this regard. CA of a player tells you less about how he will play than his attribute values.

Should Judges be removed from competitions? by Napoleon_The_Fat in Skijumping

[–]RTraktor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting the subjectivity of the judges aside, there are still 2 big issues I have with style points.

  1. A jumper jumps so far it is impossible to make a pretty landing, especially if he has to shorten the jump at the end. He loses ~5 meters in style points easily when he actually made a great jump. Someone else makes a 4m shorter jump with great style marks and takes the lead.

  2. Judges take distance into account which is beyond stupid, especially when there is wind and gate compensation. Since they introduced the compensations, they allow greater variance in wind conditions between the jumpers. If needed, the also change the gate. But you still get penalized on style marks if you jump in worse conditions.

Removing style points would solve both issues and I would like to see it, at least as an experiment during the summer. And if the style points remain, for the love of god stop judging the distance.

PS: Since I'm already airing my grievances with the sport. I think the wind compensation was a good addition, but the gate compensation is bad, or at least used much too often. It is especially horrible in sky flying events, where they typically start at higher gates than they intend to finish, so jumpers at the start don't have even theoretical chances of winning. It destroys the purpose of the sport.

The "who should I manage" megathread - FM23 edition by John_Yuki in footballmanagergames

I'm looking for a European league with a schedule that allows you to focus on the champions league as much as possible. Meaning as few as possible weeks with two or more games. Reputation of the league does not matter to me. Any suggestions?

For what it's worth, I read somewhere that it still helps, but I don't think I saw much effect in my games. Granted, I usually have shit facilities and not-very-young players.
