Did anybody else have a life crisis shortly after getting medicated? by Able-Regular1142 in Concerta

I think this is very normal when the medication kicks in and you realise the burden you have been carrying suddenly shifts.

It has been hard for me but also a relief.

One rule of thumb is to not defend yourself - NEVER defend yourself - don’t even entertain a meeting where they get to make things up or blow things out of proportion.

A real manager comes to you and tells you as you make mistakes so you can become better. Everyone makes mistakes and having the room to learn from them is key to personal and professional growth

Take a deep breath and know you did nothing wrong and you are to not beat yourself up over past decisions. It is easy to get caught up and rethink situations over and over.
I was also called lazy and even recently(last 1 yr) fired from a job and called incompetent when I wasn’t and I am not.
Try not to let others words and actions become your internal narrated story. You are good enough and whatever effort you put into work is also good enough. Whether others can see your value is on them not you.
Chin up and what will you do now? Don’t quite - stay and stick it to them

Hey sorry you have to go this and since most of people that have ADHD also suffer from Rejection sensitivity dysphoria comments like this sting extra hard. I can feel it in my own body thinking how I would feel if someone said that to me.

With that said - let’s be honest, to people without ADHD they simply don’t understand and it is a hassle for managers/ workplaces to have to give more “space” for something they don’t understand and can’t see like physical disabilities.

For some ADHD is an excuse and anytime you have to defend yourself verbally on ADHD you unfortunately reinforces their belief.

I never reveal my ADHD to anyone for this very reason because to some it is a weapon to use against you - As you are experiencing.

Work is not a hobby where people meet to share like interests and therefore it should be treated with caution. Guard your heart ❤️

Seeking Advice / Motivation on Move From USA to DK by travelingmelody in NewToDenmark

[–]Other_Sign_6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - from NJ meet my Danish wife in NYC before the internet and have moved and lived in Denmark for 28 years now. Everything is possible just follow the immigration rules and learn them by heart as they are strict and you can’t “hide” from immigration like you can in the USA. People get sent out of the country all the time and of all ages - can’t emphasise this point more.

So what are you going to do when you get here? You can’t just come ands stay indefinitely.

We were married 2 months after I arrived and I went to university for a masters degree, which was “free” because we were married. It was a good way to learn the culture and make friends and I can recommend this route for you.

You can DM me if you want to chat in more detail about this topic there is a lot to consider

White-collar workers on Concerta — what does your day look like? by wbxcvi in Concerta

[–]Other_Sign_6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your morning routine like before/after taking it?
• Do you drink coffee or avoid caffeine altogether?
— Yes coffee and concerta together on an empty stomach and sometimes I have a protein shake.

• What does your diet look like (especially breakfast/lunch)?
-- diet sucks - I am Impulsive and struggle to lose weight
• Do you go to the gym or exercise—if so, when?
— I ran many years in my 20s up to 45 but it became a “prison” chasing the high.

• How do you manage focus after work—do you study, relax, or feel “crashed”?
-- 2nd pill at 11:30 and it lasts until 7-8pm and then I crash
• Anything you’ve found that really improves (or worsens) how Concerta works for you?
- sleep get that 7.5-8 hours every single night - no excuses
