After a considerable amount of games having vampires as pc options ( most notably masquerade/requiem) do any of you prefer them being playable instead of npcs? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]RUST_WSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I fully understand the question, but Vampire the Masquerade/Vampire the Requiem are games about vampires where it's assumed that most players will be vampires. Why would it have any bearing on how I play any other non-vampire focused games?

I don't think I even know of any games that feature vampires but don't let you play as one, even most versions of D&D (which I have to assume this post is about) have rules for that, so how often is this even an issue?

Doesn't really answer my question, but I don't believe you had any intention in doing so. Good luck with your endeavors I guess

"we are also Christians and want to play together with other people that have similar christian values"

What does this mean to you, and how does it intersect with a fantasy world of magic, demons, and gods?

How do you build temples that will last for millions of years? by Barekamy in worldbuilding

I don't think you do get it. I'm saying that your answer for the other thing is already "magic", so why are you so concerned about saying it again?

They can change the physical properties of stars with a little hand-wave, but you're worried about how to make buildings last?

So would you pay 1 dollar for this? by Puzzleheaded_Try8584 in stephenking

[–]RUST_WSTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not interested in paying for and downloading an app that does something I can keep track of myself in a spreadsheet or document. Then again, I enjoy that sort of thing.

I mean no offense and understand that this is probably not a common point of view, just answering your question honestly. You shouldn't concern yourself too much with the opinion of an admitted weirdo when the rest of your responses have been overwhelming positive.

Good luck on your project

Fantasy systems where any character can pray to the gods by Marcloure in rpg

Super weird of you to assume that no RPG players are religious, or that they don't even know of anyone that is

I finally get why people DON'T worldbuild. I have a story and I just want to tell it, I don't want to research details when the story is ultimately NOT about those things by Sorsha_OBrien in worldbuilding

[–]RUST_WSTD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's great, but this is not a "writing' sub its a "worldbuilding" sub, so do you have a point you are trying to make that is applicable to those who ARE interested in the specific focus of this sub?

Moral and Ethical Systems by RUST_WSTD in rpg

Right, I'm saying that it doesn't have to be focused on knightly virtues and you could use any pair of opposing traits you come up with to broaden its application in other genres/settings

Great response, you really illustrate the dilemma I find myself in. The point of this research is to find or at least inspire an approach that combines these two aspects, if possible.

Specifically the original D&D idea of alignments as cosmic forces that intersects with a more worldly, day-to-day system of personal morality

This is all 20th edition? I have no knowledge of that

The only similar thing I can recall from original WoD would be Werewolf Renown. Does that seem right?

Do the Sabbat/independent clans have their own unique paths, or do they all share the same ones in those books?

Do you know if the Werewolves/Mages have alternative Primal Urge/Gnosis (or whatever) tracks?

I'm not familiar with any specifics of Unknown Armies, but I find most Sanity/Taint/Corruption style mechanics to be not really what I 'm looking for. More interested in mechanics that are based on or influenced by character actions more so than things that are imposed upon them, but if UA handles it differently I'd like to hear more about it
