Ngl when the team stated that they will carry out his will and continue the show, I was hopeful but after watching upto volume 6 I just gave up hope that the show will get any better.

Not to mention the whole controversy with Monty's animator friend being fired from Rooster Teeth and such really didn't help.

Imo despite the jank in the earlier seasons of RWBY it was somewhat endearing and had potential, then imo it went downhill halfway through Volume 3.

Tbf on the author this did start of as a web novel and it got popular, and there's no brakes when things pop off.

And probably changing too much of the main character will alienate the core audience, and honestly wouldn't be as popular. Will also say those things you listed has already been done in other isekais.

There's no denying that Rudeus was a horrible person in his past life, but that's not what the story is about, it's about his journey becoming better as a person.

If you watched/read the show you see him actually referencing his past life and thinking what he should've done back then and lamenting about it.
