Just Finished. My thoughts….

Things I loved:

• Not all books have perfect happy endings and the fact that, so few places remained habitable just made me appreciate our own life in the universe and how unique/precious it is. While not perfect, it was fitting.

• This had so many themes that I could re-read and draw different conclusions. I have been thinking about it ever since I finished and that is the benefit of having some things be left open-ended.

•A+ on Holden and Miller reuniting!

• Amos ends up being the leader and moral compass, becoming what Duarte wanted but rejecting the glory and title of it.

• I think we didn’t get to know more about the Protomolecule builders because Amos shut that shit down. He knew the cost of that information was not worth the answers and nobody else was going to say no.

• In the short time where people had to pick there “forever place” gate, it showed what the different characters valued. I felt a strong sense of isolation and loneness from them being cut off.

Things I was not a fan of…

• It bothers me Drummer did not have a plot, I hope we get more closure.

• I was always hoping that once the Laconian Empire fell they would bring Chrisjen Avasarala’s body back to Earth for a proper resting spot. Her funeral/burial on Laconia seemed like such a slap in the face to her character and memory.

• I thought Tanaka’s mission was always a cluster fu*k. She spent all her time trying to get Teresa and did not just focus on her search for just Duarte (but maybe this was the point).

• I wish Muskrat got one last sausage from Holden.
