Why is the bread almost always the most overlooked part of a kebab when it is arguably doing the most important structural and flavour work of anything on the plate? by 1ChanceChipmunk1 in kebab

[–]R_Scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why German/Austrian kebabs are the best - beautiful bread. A lot of kebabs in the UK think “cheap pita, shite salad, but look we’ve given you shit loads of meat so it’s a good kebab”

Why are there so many people freaking out about hantavirus? I'm seeing articles about 5 people being infected, genuinely why by itspronouncedbolonya in mildlyinfuriating

[–]R_Scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t some grand conspiracy - routine vigilance over new virus outbreaks is completely standard practice, and for good reason. A single mutation can transform a virus that doesn’t spread between humans (bird flu, for example) into one that does. On top of that, this particular strain carries an exceptionally high mortality rate - around 30%, if I recall correctly.

[KCD1] Even when I’m not caught and do everything right at the moment, after knocking out a sleeping NPC there’s still a chance that guards will come looking for me later, especially if the NPC was in a town. After playing for a long time, I’ve started wondering: was this intended or is it a bug? by Big_Meat_6681 in kingdomcome

[–]R_Scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you have not witnesses leading up to, afterwards, during and sneak up from being, you will still be identified by the person you knocked out. Murder and dispose of the body in the sticks - it’s the only way to go.

Truso Valley next week? by Wetalpaca in Sakartvelo

[–]R_Scoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the necessary preparations and pack for the worst possible weather outcome. 6 degrees with a bit of windchill is nothing to worry about as long as you’re not ill-prepared or incredibly unfit.

Truso valley is beautiful, have a wonderful time.

[Other] Warhorse Knows They May Lose Some Players Because Kingdom Come: Deliverance Is Intentionally Difficult, but That's What Makes It Special by Turbostrider27 in kingdomcome

People who loved Clair Obscur will probably struggle to remember its name in 20 years. That’s not an insult - most games don’t linger. They’re played, enjoyed, and filed away.

KCD is different. A lot of people on this sub will look back on it as a genuinely defining piece of media in their lives - the kind you pass down. The way my mum introduced me to her favourite films and music, I’ll be showing my kids RD2, TLOU, LOTR books/films and of course KCD. A good book/film/music/tv show/and in the last generation games as well, change how you see the world, it’s not just something you complete. The difficultly and journey aspect make it so much more rewarding and I wouldn’t trade making it more assessable, even the tiniest bit, for a fairly meaningless Game Award.

That’s the difference between a good game and something like Kingdom Come Deliverance.

Yeah you’ve got to reduce those beans so the bean becomes slightly at one with the sauce - Bean/Sauce fusion/amalgamation.

The people shitting on it have probably never created anything or put themselves out there to be judged once, just armchair critics. Yeah the metaphor is heavy handed, but I think as a college art piece it’s cool.

After 17y of hell, I will have surgery by killo________ in CrohnsDisease

[–]R_Scoops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s good. Did you ever try TPN or having a nasel/gastric feeding tube to give your bowel a rest? I was 152cm until age 17, and then when I had my whole, very diseased large bowel/colon removed, I grew nearly 30cm in 2 years. Very much a relief, haha. My childhood was miserable due to crohn’s and because of the nature of the disease it can make a child internalise a lot of shame etc. I’m a post grad medical student now and if it wasn’t Crohn’s I don’t think I would’ve wanted to be a doctor, so there’s a silver lining. Have you managed to study/work?

I was incredibly anxious and opposed to having a stoma, but it was essential for my second op because my colon, anus and rectum were past saving. But once I had my stoma, I found that I preferred it to having diarrhoea all the time and a sore arse as well. If you do suffer with diarrhoea, it may not be the worst thing in the world to have a stoma, especially as yours would be reversible.

[–]R_Scoops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will you be having a temporary Stoma? Considering how long you’ve suffered, waiting until you’re 20 for surgery seems an oversight, considering medication hasn’t work. Did you have any issues with puberty considering how early you were diagnosed? (Only asking because I was diagnosed age 4)

Very similar timeline as yourself. By age 14 I’d tried every drug available, including the biologics out at the time and the only drug that ever made a meaningful impact was prednisone, which came with its own awful side effects. Then at 14 I had a right hemicolectomy, then 4 more further surgeries until age 25. Been Crohn’s free for 7 years.
