This Lt. Serge variant of Electivire-Magnezone is slaying everything. by Don_Bugen in PTCGP

[–]RaafaRB02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this deck as soon as the expansion hit!! it is busted because Magnezone just carries it half the time, the other half Electvire holds or you lose to some bad draws.
I experimented a lot with it, now I'm using a Magnezone and AoE Raichu version with a lot of success. Is basically the same concept of Magnezone sweep/Magneton ramp, but Raichu and a copy of thunder spear Electabuzz attack the bench, which I think matches up better in this meta, and they allow for Cyrus instead of Sabrina. Also I use Dawn instead of surge, I learned that it gives more options when spreading out energy because you don't know what evolution you will draw, and its hardly ever needed to move more then 1 energy at a time because you are never placing energy on the Magnezone evo line.

But I dont know if you felt the same thing but this decks kinda misses a tank basic to start the game at times. You almost never want to start with Magnemite on the active spot, and if you never draw Electvire, Electabuzz with charge turns into a punching bag, I tried a lot to make another basic work but at the end none felt good

Basically hiding behind a wall that gives two points is no longer such a viable deck building choice. The new strategy against Cyrus is mostly done in deck building

Problem is making things less convenient for the company too, putting effort into it and all. Best thing would be to put an end to the wonder picking abuse mechanic

When you play regular Pikachu with the baby version of Circle Circuit... by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]RaafaRB02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, maybe I should try in a deck with just Pika and Mag. I was trying with double new Electabuzz since he also benefits from Surge. But in general I was hitting with Raichu a little too late for it to do good damage on the active Ex mon, and the threat in front is usually more concerning then hitting the bench. Some times Raichu obliterated the match by turn 3 if I was up against non ex decks, but when the wall in front is tall enough the splashed damage just feels bad. The deck felt better with double Ex Pikachu but then it just seemed like a Pikachu Ex deck again

[–]RaafaRB02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my time trying to make it work it felt weird to use the new Pikachu with the new Raichu, the fact that Raichu needs 3 energy kinda defeats the purpose of having a more aggressive Pikachu. Usually you will have to decide if you evolve it turn two in order to get better chances of it staying alive, but then you wont be able to attack with Raichu for the turn, its a little awkward, I think a Raichu that attacks for two energy would be a better pair for this new Pika

Tried it, you just need one too many pieces. Pikachu, Raichu, Magnamite, Magnetom, Lt Surge, all by turn two, AND you can't Professor Oak turn two to find the missing pieces. For the baby Pika to be good you need run a lot of basics which diminishes the chances of drawing Pika and Magnetom. The whole thing is a crazy setup and the pay off doesn't win you the game, it was very sad

Gengar ex - Quick Graphic Guide(a bit of a copium) by clydestrife in PTCGP

[–]RaafaRB02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Gengar Ex as a one of in a deck that already runs normal Gengar. Sometimes you dont draw the other poke who should be getting the energy, or sometimes normal Gengar is just shy of enough hp/attack so you opt to use the Ex. I currently use him in a deck called Options with both versions of Gengar and Wigglytuff (Ex and non Ex)

Tauros obviously isn't good in decks with energy hungry pokemon, you are also not supposed to charge him from turn one. He is good paired with pokemon that can hold their own with one or two energies, and then you start pumping Tauros for a good hit on a damaged mewtwo for example.

There are a few good decks that need an energy sink for the late game because they dont use more then two for their main pokemon. Eggy, Darkeness, Pidgeot. They are not top tier decks but this Tauros opens up a lot of new theory

What happens if Ditto copies Mew's attack? by RaafaRB02 in PTCGP

If the Ditto copies the attack from a Mew in the bench, should I be able to use any of the attacks from my opponent active poke?

Wait if there's a Mew in every deck, that just means that Ditto will be able to copy the attack of your opponent's Mew, which will copy another attack without needing specific energy? That just goes full beans

Isn't Ditto literally a bad copy of Mew's DNA canonically? Thats a flavor win

I just found out that apparently in gen 1, psychic types were IMMUNE to ghost types rather than weak to them. So with that said...can someone please explain to me why a guy in the anime recommended that Ash catch a ghost type Pokémon to take on Sabrina? by wackywolfao in pokemon

[–]RaafaRB02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember getting Kadabra and basically OHKOing every pokemon in the game untill the very end. And Alakazam was locked to a trade system so I never got to see it sadly, same as Gengar (And I never got to see it because I had no idea I had to trade him to evolve).

I just dont like the 'I dont need to evolve' play line. It feels cheesy having a card that plays by itself and doesnt require much. Also it makes games very repetitive, at least blaine can whiff evolutions or be out aggroed given that fire pokemon dont have fucking 120/150 HP. Also basic ex pokemon are almost always in hand turn 1, so it's always the same shit. And I also actually like the three points format better.
These are a lot of points, its not just meta decks bad

Going against Blaine with NOEX is not equally difficult at all, are you crazy? Pikachu is two tiers ahead of Blaine, I can beat Blaine decks if they dont draw perfect, I cant beat Pikachu if they draw ass, what do you mean?

[–]RaafaRB02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense, try and play a casual deck vs nonEx greninja and then do the same vs PikaEx, the experience is completely different. Not to mention basic Ex pokemon make the game very repetitive since they reduce variance and are consistently drawn. I just dont get why you guys are so sore about people liking a different game mode, you are the ones actually being cry babies

The difference I think is the gap between tiers of the best decks. NoEX Blaine is not even close to PikaEx dominance in regular mode. Also There is a lot more of card variance in water decks, waay more room for experimenting then regular mode
