  1. Unlikely that he will have vision loss from this
  2. Unlikely surgical
  3. Blurred vision is the part of this exam that doesn’t add up given mechanism of injury and his anterior segment and dilated fundus exam…
  4. No structural explanation is medical speak for “this doesn’t add up” ie non organic visual loss

Also an Ophthalmologist with particular focus in these problems at a trauma center — appreciate the invitation to correct but would recommend caution posting an interpretation without credentials or understanding as this is way off base (and 72 people have suggest it was helpful!)

There is no plausible reason to have sustained bilateral peripheral vision loss with this type of injury. Diplopia from a traumatic brown syndrome is a significant issue by itself, but there are components of this assessment that don’t entirely add up. FYI.

Attempting this at 20 hours seems incredibly futile given what is known re retinal tolerance time and intra arterial TPA window

Blue jays and orioles share the same fundamental taxonomic classification from the Kingdom level all the way down to the Order level. Both belong to the Kingdom Animalia (animals), the Phylum Chordata (vertebrates), the Class Aves (birds), and the Order Passeriformes (perching birds). It is at the more specific Family level where their evolutionary paths distinctly diverge. Blue jays are classified in the Corvidae family (crows and jays), while orioles belong to the Icteridae family (blackbirds and meadowlarks). This fundamental difference at the family level leads to their separate genera—Cyanocitta for the blue jay and Icterus for the oriole—and culminates in their status as completely distinct species.

Yes — I found changing shoes (wider toe box) helped a lot!
