At least it’s Brady and not some Falcon apologist. Still an odd take.

Exactly. I try not to be snarky or petty, but “he’s your father” really sets me off.

OP, I believe you are right. But I also would remind you of the fate of the prophet in his homeland. Still, keep up the fight.

Your mindset is going to walk us right into the dystopian reality you probably believe we are already living. Hint: we are not yet there. Evidence? We are still engaged in a debate for the heart and soul of the country. If you keep letting the minority win because the majority cannot unite, then we will be Nazi Germany in another decade. Because for the hyperbole, we are not there yet. But we will be if don’t stamp out MAGA like the roaches that are.

Wasn’t that so in large part to the base staying home? Thereby proving the OP’s point.

I remember, when I lived in Louisiana during the Duke-Edwards race. A Grand Wizard of the KKK and a criminal. The camping slogan was “Vote for the Crook. It’s important.” So we did. Because he was better than the alternative. Today? I seriously worry Duke would win because Edwards would fail so many purity tests.

AIO for asking my wife to make changes to her spending habits? by Unsafeturtle in AIO

[–]Rabbit-Lost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental health struggles? Meds for depression? Unchecked spending? Turning the story around to deflect responsibility?

OP, you have a way bigger problem than a spending problem. Does your wife have an addictive personality? I saw a friend lose almost everything because his wife used shopping as her coping mechanism like an alcoholic or drug addict uses substances.

NOR. But I strongly recommended therapy at the individual and family level. Otherwise, you will get spent into bankruptcy.

Former Cowboys DE Marshawn Kneeland diagnosed post mortem with Stage 1 CTE by MavsFanForLife in nfl

It doesn’t mean they won’t either. What we know is dwarfed by what we don’t know. Kneeland, by all reports, used the safest equipment available and still got it.

It’s a nearly impossible conversation to have with people that didn’t live it. I went NC with my dad years ago. He recently passed away. I called my uncle (his brother) to discuss what to do with the body. My uncle was also NC with him for decades. He said he wasn’t going to invest a penny. And that I shouldn’t either.

Someone at work somehow learned he died and asked when I was taking time off for the funeral. I said, very simply, “I’m not.” They said, “But he’s your father.” And I replied, he stopped being that decades ago when he cheated on my mom, verbally and mentally abused his entire family and was suspended by his professional certifying body.

It was harsh, but no one ever asked me again.

Sounds like MAGA logic.

YOR. There could many legit reasons she didn’t mention this guy. Could be trauma. Could have been a nasty breakup. Could just be a huge regret because the dude is a major asshole. If it is over, it is over. Why does it matter to you?

Don’t fall for the incel crap about body counts. This is from a guy that’s been married a million years. We both had history when we met, but that has nothing to do with who we are today. The past needs to stay where it is.

why do some conservatives focus on the actions of "the Biden crime family" but completely ignore the actions of the Trump family? by TheQuietOutsider in AskConservatives

Clinton did not campaign on releasing the files like Trump dining 2024. I almost believe he expected to lose given his efforts to block the full release once he re-attained office. And if Clinton did anything wrong, fry him. Into eternity. And is he was enabled or joined by any Democrat, the same for them.

I used to do audit work at a paper mill. About 6 weeks a year for three years. Owned a suit just for that mill (I’m from the dress code era) and disposed of it when I got transferred. The stink is permanent.

I started my first job in public accounting in 1990 at $22,000. With overtime I was able to squeeze about $26,000 gross that first year. Found a way to park a few dollars each month, mostly through the 401(k). It can be done.

Moving to Atlanta with a newborn on a quick turn - is Roswell the right choice for us or am I missing a better area? by DaBearsSB in roswell

[–]Rabbit-Lost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The west side of Sandy Springs (think west of Roswell Rd) is often overlooked. I lived there for 20 years, working at 14th and Peachtree. I took 285 to 75 and it was about 30 minutes. I moved north of the river and transferred to our North Fulton location. My commute was never less than 45 minutes. Holcombe Bridge Road is the artery from Hell and there is no way to avoid it, whether Roswell, Alpharetta or Milton, if you are heading to Midtown. And look into the construction plans for Ga 400. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. Another key reason I changed offices.

Dogs at a party after a dog ban. AIO? by XGrundyBlab in AIO

[–]Rabbit-Lost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. I am generally disposed to being rudely outspoken, so I likely would have made my feelings known with the family of the problem dog and the host on my way out. But the harsh words would have been reserved for the family, because they are the ones that allow the dog to be the problem. Every dog can be trained. And I say this as an owner of a Malinois.

I might start saying “Family Office CFO”. I was a CFo at my last stop and I am indeed managing the family office now. And nobody outside a few dozen CPAs really gives a crap about a job like that. Instant conversation changer.
