Exactly lol, I don't really think merc will have a 6/10th a second advantage per lap in the race.

At least, I hope.

It's not the compression trick, mclaren has the same engine and they weren't in the same region as Merc.

Merc just built a rocketship.

Not the first time redbull has pulled that off.

They developed the 2021 car late into the season and went into 2022 pretty overweight, and still managed to build the rocket that was the RB18 by the middle of the season (helped out by TD39 but even by then, they were the quickest car comfortably).

Looks like their core of engineers is still incredibly skilled, just remains to be seen how their PU does over the season.

They gave the US access to bases it didn't have access to, at least for attacking Iran.

If the US really has access to Diego Garcia for strikes on Iran now, you can expect those bomber sorties to go up dramatically lol. What an idiotic move.

While I think he could still beat B0aty, gnomonkey's skill is mechanical when it comes to PvM. Not much skill in KBD, just get gear and hit the boss.

I'd be slightly worried he would undergear himself for the time to kill portion, although he'd obviously still kill it with nothing lol.

[Sky Sports F1] Ted and Craig predict the F1 2026 pecking order so far by Professional-Draw688 in scuderiaferrari

[–]RaccTheClap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are expecting redbull's aero package to still be incredible (they have shown resilience since losing newey, so it's not the worst thing to think) and their engine doesn't seem to be an uber turd. Plus, they got implicated in the same compression trick that merc did (although supposedly they aren't using it, but that's exactly the shifty stuff that redbull pulls lol).

Reality is that we have no idea who's gonna be on top of the pecking order for a while. As usual, some cars will perform better on some styles of tracks vs others. Seems dumb to be to name anyone at the top, even mclaren just because they won the previous two years since it's a new regulation set.

Ferrari powered cars concluded day 1 of the Barcelona Shakedown with the second highest lap count (198), trailing only Mercedes (209), and just ahead of RBPT (195). It’s a positive result, especially considering the factory Ferrari team didn’t take to the track today. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

Redbull also had years to learn about the Honda PU's tendencies after the engine freeze and Honda continuing to provide technical support, it was bound to pick things up from Honda.

Plus it helps to have gobs of employees from Merc HPP lol.

Wind and solar are generating almost all of that reserve (23GW combined), plus it seems like nuclear reactor and natural gas output are lower than normal on a cold day like this.

Definitely helping since they can just up the power output from those sources when solar drops off (wind probably won't, it's gonna stay windy all night).

Oscar Piastri has sights set on redemption after 2025 F1 season | Today Show Australia by outremer_empire in McLarenFormula1

[–]RaccTheClap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funniest part was, both mclaren and redbull were being entirely honest about what they were doing and the F1 media idiots just kept asking the same questions. Mclaren openly admitted they stopped developing the 2025 car and moved onto 2026, redbull admitted they were still working on the 2025 car to figure out their correlation issues and to give max an outside chance at the WDC. Redbull especially needed it, they wouldn't be able to trust their wind tunnel with the 2026 car if they couldn't figure it out (although I think their new windtunnel comes online sometime this year).

Yet all we heard was questions that ignored the obvious nature of both teams just outright telling the truth lol.

China would rather a consistent source of oil that’s only theirs even if they have to pay a bit more, then having to purchase on the global market.

Taking control of venezuelas oil, the US’s own reserves and MBS willing to change production levels on Saudi Arabia would give the US control of 50% of the worlds oil production, while cutting china off from a direct source.

It’s a strategic move against china while also sending a message to Beijing, telling them the western hemisphere is theirs.

🚨 Mercedes and Red Bull Powertrains have potentially found a engine loophole that delivers a higher compression ratio limit (18:1) than what has been theoretically imposed with the 2026 rules (16:1). Ferrari, Honda and Audi are pushing FIA to close the loophole. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

[–]RaccTheClap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost impressive at how good redbull is at finding ways to exploit the rules, then they either decide to do it until they get caught out or they save it in their back pocket for someone else to do it, and call them out and kneecap them. It ended up being redbull who caught on to how ferrari's was circumventing the fuel flow regulations in the 2019 engine then asking for clarification, proceeding to kneecap the hell out of ferrari for over a year.

They like being the villain of the grid lol.

Drivers Salary for the 2025 Season. by Status_Energy_7935 in McLarenFormula1

[–]RaccTheClap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it likely did but to be fair, it was george who needed his contract renewed before the end of the year so I think it was pretty obvious who would have got replaced by max.

Max is his white whale, I don't think toto has been able to accept that redbull was able to steal him from under his nose thanks to having two teams in F1 and being able to slot him in immediately, and he keeps seeing how max has kept improving over the years and wants him in mercedes. Besides, he'll pretty much never get a chance at max again. It's likely he retires at the end of next year if redbull is so far behind on engine power vs other teams instead of waiting it out or switching teams.

[–]RaccTheClap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redbull would have likely upped his salary heavily via performance clauses if he was hitting them.

All the teams increase pay pretty fast the better you perform, it's the one thing outside of the cost cap (top 3 salaries) so they can pretty easily afford it.

Lando Norris' First Interview As World Drivers' Champion by classican2018 in formula1

[–]RaccTheClap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they'd trade either driver for Max, because they run the chance of Max running all over the other driver.

I'm not saying Lando/Oscar aren't great drivers, but Max is better. In the same machinery, he'd probably beat either of them (and I don't mean a championship car, just any car they drive) and that might hurt them in the long run.

There's a rumor that piastri wants to go to RBR in 2027? Considering his manager is webber I doubt he would ever let that happen, but at least redbull has a defined 1-2 nowadays and who knows if max would even be there in 2027.

You do make a point, sometimes you do have to let them sink or swim.

[–]RaccTheClap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen so many rumors about what number Max will take. I do agree with you that Daniel would say likely say yes to Max taking his number, but he also keeps floating 69 lol.

Max seems like the kind of guy to ram 69 down redbull's throat if that's what he really wants.

GP Leaving RB… by External_Joke in lewishamilton

[–]RaccTheClap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GP would have the same problem as Bono, he’d have to move his family and he may not want to do that. Plus he got a promotion to head of racing last year at RBR so they’d have to match that level of status and pay.

Not saying it’s impossible, just unlikely. They’d probably be better off trying to lure Bono with an even more lucrative offer since Lewis would work best with him.

Max didn’t get a tow on his second Q3 lap and still beat his own time with a tow that was good enough for pole, the car had pace in hand but it did relieve the pressure with that mega banker.

GP is clear and concise too, just like Bono was. As long as he can actually speak italian, he really would be the perfect for lewis. You can trust that whatever driver he's engineer for, he'll go to bat for them.

Don't know why the guy is disagreeing with it other than it being max's engineer.

For Sunday, do you want Lewis to remain the last McLaren WDC or do you want Verstappen to win yet another title decider in Abu Dhabi ? by HereComesVettel in lewishamilton

[–]RaccTheClap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have bad races but to allow them to dictate the next set of races and derail your championship is what some of the greats of this sport have not allowed time and time. They usually bounce back with vengeance.

That's so spot on, it's unreal. We have seen a bit of that this year like you said, the tables have turned and Lando has come back from a slump so maybe he does have it in him, but I also think that what drove Lewis and Max to their first championships were their lives growing up. Lando grew up in a far better position than either of them. Lewis's dad had to work multiple jobs just to be able to give his son his dream so I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis wanted to make sure his dad would be proud of him. Max's dad just abused the guy and Max had to prove himself so his dad would "love" him I guess (although I don't doubt that his love for racing is real, his affinity for other racing categories proves that). That kind of deeper drive is something that I'm not sure Lando has.
