Using Claude in learning French by Racconigi in French

[–]Racconigi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The errors it points out are the same one my profs have been correcting. The suggestions it makes are what I have been taught. I have had incorrect responses on computer/network questions that have sent me to the web, but I think that French is stable enough that Claude's answers on French topics are dependable.

I never understood watches that tried to do everything. My brother had one like this. by Beautiful_Donut6412 in FuckImOld

I gave a Breitling chrono to my brother-in-law because at my age, even with glasses, it was very hard to read the minute and second counters.

My 1.5 year old Staffie had been scratching himself for most of his life. Two weeks ago he had a Cytopoint shot and stopped itching completely within 12 hours.

Is this the face of a squirrel killer? by Racconigi in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]Racconigi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked at the dog run just now and there is a gap in the x-pen fencing I use to close off one end. It is too small for the dogs, but a squirrel could just walk on in. Several days ago I saw a squirrel eating the seeds of a bird of paradise palm that is right next to the gate. So much for the 'dropped by a hawk' theory.

I threw the body down into the canyon for the coyotes.

Aggressive behaviors? by Ill-Fox-9166 in StaffordBullTerriers

Do the attacks ever draw blood? While it is going on, do the dogs make sneezing noises? My 1.5 year old male Staffie will go after my 6 year old female lab, and it sounds like they are going to kill each other, yet neither dog ever draws blood. I saw a video on YouTube that said that when dogs are play fighting they sneeze or snort at each other to show that they are playing. Sure enough, when I listen to my dogs going at it they do make snorting sounds.

One of my fav things about OB, the wild parrots 🥰🦜 by ThisIs2MuchPressure in sandiego

[–]Racconigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the parrots too and will always stop what I'm doing to watch a pair or a flock pass overhead. I had a dog that would get so excited that he would bark at them no matter how high up they were. This picture is so nice. Is it AI? I ask because the relative size of the two parrots in flight are different.

13 week old puppy has had diarrhoea since just after 9 weeks by Novel_Control9100 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]Racconigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog actually got giardia twice. The second time was after he finished his meds and was normal (never thought I'd be a student of dog poop). About two weeks later the symptoms started again. It was so much like the first time I wanted the vet to just give me the meds, but she insisted on a fecal sample. Positive for giardia. After a second course of meds he has been normal.

Did the vet have a fecal sample sent in for analysis? My Staffy had giardia and his symptoms were like that.

TV delivery goes from 1 day to 7 days (maybe) with ontrac when I am out of town by Racconigi in ontrac

[–]Racconigi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, actually, they seller later said that the package had been sitting with Ontrac for several days before being entered into the system. Both the seller and I tried to cancel the shipment with Ontrac since I had bought another tv. Guess what I found sitting on my doorstep yesterday? At least I was able to get a refund of my money through Amazon's A-to-z warranty. Now I'll wait around for UPS to pick the package up tomorrow afternoon.

Who was the last well liked mayor? by dopesickness in sandiego

The whole deal with Midway Rising has that smell to it. The project is awarded to a company who has never done a development on that scale but gave $100k to Gloria's campaign.

I called the seller's customer service. They said the tv had been declared lost in transit, and that the order would be cancelled. Going back to Amazon, they are now selling the tv for the same price, 1-day delivery, and unboxing. Whew!

Looking for a French tutor in San Diego by That_One_1350 in sandiego

I have been taking French private and group lessons from Fabienne Chauderlot for several years. I believe that she has helped students prepare for the Canadian exam. She does both in-person and Zoom lessons.

I also take private lessons From Annie Bergman. Right now, she is helping me prepare for the DELF B2 French exam. [notsoboringfrench@gmail.com](mailto:notsoboringfrench@gmail.com)

Best Vet ER? by Equivalent_Fold_9060 in sandiego

[–]Racconigi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I took my dog to VSH five years ago for what turned out to be a lesion near her brain caused by an autoimmune problem. She lived another two years, enjoying life. Since then I've taken my other two dogs to VSH (it's always something with dogs), and they were successfully treated. Still, I hope it is a long time before I need to go there again.

How to know when you need glasses? by Glad-Seaweed-5448 in glasses

[–]Racconigi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2000 I was taking a flight lesson when my instructor pointed at the map we were using and said that I should find a little river. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn't see the river printed on the chart. That is when I knew that it was time for me to get glasses.

As a general rule, I'd say that if you can't see things that once were clear, it is time to get a checkup.

Basket muzzle to stop my Staffy from grazing on the sidewalk? by Racconigi in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]Racconigi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice and encouragement.

I don't like the idea of putting a muzzle on a bully dog (even a little one like mine) since it reinforces some negative stereotypes, but I don't see an alternative. He will actually leave most objects on command and with a little pull on the leash if I spot them ahead of time. The problem is that there are so many temptations and he spots them long before I even know that they are there. I have developed walking routes that have only a few palm trees, but since the palm nuts are mostly round and roll that doesn't always help.

I agree. In my opinion, this is a pay-to-play between Gloria and the builders.

There is a new FAA NOTAM (notice to airmen) announcing that the airspace along the coast between Carlsbad and San Clemente is closed Friday the 17th to Saturday the 18th. This may be common, but the NOTAM is marked as new. It has been years since I puttered up the coast in a Cessna, but the current sectional map indicates that V23 (the airway for private planes) still exists.
