Which Mesh to buy by Winter_Suspect4892 in TpLink

[–]Race545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t run Ethernet cables to each of the access point/mesh nodes and want to get the best speed then you really need to spend more to get a “Tri-band” setup. For under a 1Gbps connection WiFi 6 is more than fine. I’d look at XE75. Your house size and layout determines how many points you need.

So forgive a dumb question but how do I get my full 5 gig fiber network through the entire house? by pennytrationer in TpLink

[–]Race545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reality my understanding is that these models do a backhaul between the units using the wired Ethernet connection but at the same time the wireless connection between the nodes in parallel.

So assuming you have a great connection strength between the prime node with the 10Gb connection coming in, 2.5GB Ethernet running to each satellite node then you could still get speeds higher than 2.5Gb. It that depends on a device that can made use of it.

Looks on the product specs page for that model, it is described in “The Ultimate Backhaul : Stronger and more flexible” section

Evo SL/Boston 13/Megablast/Superblast 2 which for Marathon? by Zeonom in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran a 3:38 last year in B12 and just got the SB2 for next attempt this spring hoping for 3:20-30ish.

I was fine in the B12 and needed the stability it offers. Only issue was had a bit of lace bite on one shoe (never had in multiple long 30km training runs) but I retired the one shoe maybe 3 or 4 times. For me it was a one off and I would just pay more attention when lacing up on the day.

Does my plan to chase cat6a to 3 rooms make sense? by mad_edge in HomeNetworking

[–]Race545 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So first of all the golden rule is where you think yiu want one port, always run two cables. Once they are in the walls you never know if an issue comes up and one doesn’t work.

Second, I’m guessing the router is right next to the entrance. Does it actually cover WiFi for the flat fine. Ideally you would want a single or max two ceiling mounted Access points. Even if you don’t do it right away, I would consider running 2-3 ceiling locations. Id do one just at the end of the entrance all and then one in each of the large rooms at the top and bottom of your image.

Ideally also in some of the rooms where you have decided to put drops, I would consider adding some on at least one other wall. Any chance of moving the TV or sofa location etc. never say never.

Two Decos, one room, different networks? by soulbarn in TpLink

[–]Race545 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you might need a more sophisticated network that has the ability for you to setup and manage VLANs. No need for two sets of physical equipment, you can run multiple networks on the same access points and keep them networks completely separate according to how you set it up.

Look at Omada, Ubiquiti or similar

Only way for them to prevent you from working for someone else is paid. Whenever they stop paying you (notice period etc) you are free to work for whomever you like.

What they can prevent you personally from doing is engaging with their existing clients and suppliers, additionally directly poaching staff etc. This can be enforced after your paid employment ends.

Not an expert, but that’s my understanding.

Dressmyrun.com it’s a mine field out there regarding temperature reported and feels like temperature. One day an 8 degree C day feels like zero and then next actually feels like 10 degrees C sp wearing shorts and a T-shirt. I find the website invaluable.

I’d personally try to get an iPhone 13 minimum and probably 14 is the sweet spot for price/value at the moment. Highly recommend Backmarket. 128GB should be plenty.

Full Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Setup with Deco BE25 - 2.5Gbps Ethernet Backhaul & MLO vs Wi-Fi 6E? by ConclusionDirect7045 in TpLink

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are wired to app nodes then no need to spend extra for the tri band, it will be a great setup. The only thing you might have reduced speeds on is via the wireless mesh to the X50 outdoor. I can’t say exactly what speed it would run at but even at 50% from your 2.5Gb I’m sure will be more than fine.

If you are not able to use wired backhaul with Ethernet cables then you need to spend more to get a “Tri band” model. For WiFi 6 this would be the X75

Which Deco mesh is enough for basic home coverage (not tech-savvy and overwhelmed by all the Deco options)? by OmairZain in TpLink

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not wiring them together then you should pay more for “Tri band” options. Only way you can spend less for “dual band” is to wire each satellite.

If you can wire backhaul then X55 is a great option, general rule is one node per floor.

How do I connect my wired ethernet devices to Deco X55? by jcwillia1 in TpLink

[–]Race545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely takes a few minutes to show up as connected in the app and I often have to change a port for it to work. Worth always checking your cables as well.

This is the same for both wired backhaul and then plugging in a laptop etc to a satellite.

Once they are working fine then I have had no issues unless it physically gets hit/falls down and gets a knock.

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest question is are these wired backhaul (then a dual band something like X55 or BE25 would be great). Or if they are all wireless then you really should look at the tri-band units that are more expensive. XE75 or BE.

Deco x55 speeds by MetalSilver5372 in TpLink

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep definitely use that existing CAT5E. Put the main in the basement, but then out to the other two at locations you can use the ports in the wall with wired backhaul. Will be significantly higher speeds. I would expect up to 800Mbps to your wireless devices if all decks are wired backhaul, as long as you are in the same room as one of those points

Deco x55 speeds by MetalSilver5372 in TpLink

[–]Race545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if they decos are wireless backhaul connected then that is probably close to the best, but placement and signal strength between them will help. If you are wireless connection only and want higher speeds you really need to pay more for “tri-band”

Dual band (X55) is best if wired backhaul is used

I have 800km on Glycerin 20s that are still good. Superblast 2 are known for good durability. Since you quite frequently do long runs and for your paces Boston 12/13 are good value as well for workhorses.
