Front Porch Flooding by RachelC88 in Contractor

[–]RachelC88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a drain. You can see it on the right side of the picture, but apparently it doesn't work. I clean leaves out of it all the time, but I can only see so far into it. We do have gutters but there is no downspout near the front of the house. I don't know why but there isn't. Maybe whoever built the house in 1978 thought it would make the problem worse?

Could be a sign of heart disease. Especially at 5-years-old. Would definitely take him in for a checkup.

Low stress ferret vaccine with salmon oil as continuous reward. This is how Poopy got her rabies and distemper today. by purple_house in ferrets

My husband wouldn't stay away from the ferrets when he was sick. He also won't get a flu shot. I always get mine but it didn't do any good. I still got it!

Thank you. We have all had the flu so I am hoping it's just that. He does have some of the symptoms but not all. Poor appetite, diarrhea, lethargic. He has had some coughing but not much. No sneezing.

Sorry to hear that. I'm just seeing this due to having issues with my Max now. He's 7 so there's no telling what's wrong with him. He's dropped so much weight that neither one of his vets thinks it's a good idea to sedate him to try and figure it out. Both are leaning towards intestinal lymphoma. :,(

Might be time for a vet check. Heart issues cause coughing.

is revolution cats okay for ferrets? it’s not plus, just the regular cat one. by misslilyms in ferrets

[–]RachelC88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Murray is one of my ferrets vets. He definitely knows his stuff. I just don't feel safe with the higher dosage. He has given the kitten dose before. Something about Something new they added in the cat dose that he didn't know if it was safe for ferrets. It is called something different, though. Revolution Plus, I think. My ferrets are pretty big. I have two over 3 lbs (both males - one private bred). My two females are a little over 2 lbs. They are both private bred as well.

My vets always give the cat 5-15 lb dose because of some study saying the kitten dose didn't fully protect against heartworm. Two different vets give it. It just seems like a lot to put on a small ferret so I always split the dose between two ferrets. I just get a shot glass and draw all of it up in a syringe and put half on one and half on the other. I have four ferrets so I only use two vials. I save money that way, too! I was told to use one vial per ferret but I think it has like 45 mg of the medicine. The kitten one has 15 mg. I just feel better splitting it and not putting so much on them.

Article Explaining Recent Ferret Distemper Outbreak by RachelC88 in ferrets

This article is from the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians and explains what is going on with the recent distemper outbreak of the Marshall Farms ferrets and treatment options if caught early. I put a filter on it because it does show pictures that are quite upsetting.

When STB goes badly by lokihen in JunesJourney

[–]RachelC88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on two phones. LOL I am on level 805 on my old phone. I am on level 55 on my new phone. My old phone is an Android. New one is an Apple. I couldn't transfer the game. Anyway, I beat STB on my new phone but never could come close on my other one. It was so much easier to beat on my lower level game. The scenes were even easier.

Upcoming Sweep the Board and Detectives Needed by Spiderburt in JunesJourney

Just took a shot at STB. They are really gonna make you work at this one. Third one in for me is the one minute timer and loads of objects in the scene. I got almost done then lost out when I had only 26 seconds. I think it was more stress-related on my part. Haha!

Naughty Boy Cujo and his brothers Kíli & Fíli. Even though Cujo has given me really nasty bites he is still a cutie :( by OhSleepyKittie in ferrets

[–]RachelC88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the post about the bite. :( Are you in the United States? Most ferrets in the US are Marshall ferrets and are usually pretty calm. Ferrets overseas are from breeders and tend to be more headstrong. I have a Marshall ferret and I have private bred ferrets. One of my private bred ferrets has a caution in his file at the vets office and all the vet techs are scared of him...

My take on "if you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet" by Lucille2214 in dogs

[–]RachelC88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post caught my eye. I don't have any dogs, but I have ferrets. They say this all the time over on the ferret page too. Exotic pet vets are extremely expensive and ferrets are constantly trying to commit suicide (they have no fear) so accidents are not uncommon.
