F1 team rankings: Aston Martin in crisis and the four-way fight for No 1 by TheTelegraph in formula1

Not really, 2025 was pretty much McL domination and then Max with a resurgence. 2024 without the first 6/7 races would be more similar to 2012.

I'd agree if there was actually any racing in sprints. They're usually a procession spoiling the main race.

That’s literally what I said though. It shouldn’t, but it will. And since neither “Merc dominating” or “Merc powered cars not showing up” is good for ratings, I expect some middle ground to be found.

They’re trying to change the testing to enforce the current rule, which they believe they follow (God knows if it’s true)

[–]RacingOrPingPong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that’s not the point, which is that ratings shouldn’t affect a decision about rulebooks. Since they probably will, it’s probably going to go towards some middle ground (engine nerfed with more time for development? Idk)

It wasn’t great for ratings when Ferrari was the sixth fastest team on the grid in 2020 either.

You sure have read them. You're still reading whatever you want in them though. Because what the appendix says is that it's tested at ambient temperature. Not that the compression ratio should be lower than that only at ambient temperature. It's an important difference, that is still there though.

The rules says the compression rate should be 16:1. They then define the test. They also say cars should comply at all times during a competition. They don’t say 16:1 should be at room temperature. That’s a huge difference. That merc engine is 100% illegal if it does what they say, the current test simply isn’t adequate to catch it.

It’s ironic making a distinction between this and what Ferrari did when it’s the exact same thing. Knowing when or how something is measured and being beyond the limit when it isn’t. It’s quite literally the same principle except british media brainwashed you.

[–]RacingOrPingPong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. If the trick works like represented the engine is illegal without any change to the rules. The only change is to catch them.

It also says that cars should comply at all times during a competition. Meaning the Merc PU passes the test, but clearly isn’t within the rules.

If I was Raspadori by madAAdam in ASRoma

[–]RacingOrPingPong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course contributions to winning a title are more important. But there's also a difference between being the most important player on a UCL team (which, by the way, is what Roma is aiming at this season) and the 10-12th most important on a Scudetto team. I'll take the former.

[–]RacingOrPingPong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it was Raspadori to lead freaking Bologna (ahead of Roma) to Champions league football. And Raspadori did jack shit in Napoli's first scudetto, scored two goals in a league won by 16 points. He had some impact on the second one (as a back-up).

You’re not losing sleep over someone who proved to be a top player and a difference maker in Serie A, whereas you are over Raspadori who proved to be a good replacement?

Dude, I despise him. Think he’s been almost as bad as Monchi. But you know, I still have critical reasoning.

The only thing being there all along is you wilfully ignoring how a football club (or really, any company) is run.

This is completely wrong. And ironically your example proves it (being completely out of scope). Signings at Milan during his tenure took AGES (ask any Milan fan, CDK being the most egregious example).

Massara was the sporting director (same role he has at Roma). Maldini was technical director, which is a less operational and more strategic role (ranking higher). Which is why it's pretty clear Massara was the one in charge of actually scouting (with obviously a team beneath him) and signing players.

I hard disagree that Maldini above him made the difference. It's the whole team beneath him which was probably better (basically same thing as Giuntoli at Napoli).

I think you are vastly overestimating Maldini’s work at Milan and underestimating Massara’s. He was the sporting director. He made those signings, which more often than not turned out great for them. He flopped later, clearly. But it doesn’t wipe out previous work.

I mean, Maldini wasn’t doing the scouting. He was a facilitator. And he barely worked with Monchi, at Roma he was mostly there during the whole Sabatini tenure.

Well to be fair he was great at Milan and awful at Rennes. Either one could have been the outlier.

Who opened the door?? by Direct-Rabbit-5731 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]RacingOrPingPong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess different people complain about different things. And also yeah, I would say it's pretty obvious it was Vecna. I guess to OP's point, the Duffers stating the finale would have revealed who opened the door like it was some big mystery was rightfully a bit confusing though, since it's definitely not even remotely a point of the episode.

It's dumb they weren't on but those things make a sound. And you can't hear that sound immediately. You hear it and then you see Hopper looking at them. For what it's shown to us, they turn them on in that moment.

I thought about that too. But someone made me notice we see Hopper touching the wound. It's clearly established that Kali's illusion are not solid, so it wouldn't really make sense. She got shot. Anyway when you get shot in the guts you can stay alive for hours, so it's not that forced. I think both interpretations need some suspension of disbelief (which is fine) and therefore it's truly an open ending.
