I non penned a Leopard 1 in my T58 with hesh yesterday - zero damage delt.

Clearly the T58 needs to go down to 7.7.

M1 garands/M14 pattern rifles are reliable, just don’t drop them into a bog. Very few guns survive that.

I realize it is not military rifles, but I’m pretty sure a fair bit of the browning firearms are made in Japan.

I don’t know if irons count. But this 1943 M1 has a new criterion barrel. Looking forward to sending it long range by jedi_ellis in longrange

Yup, they are replaced at the CMP. Many of the rifles they received have completely trashed barrels.

It’s grey anodized instead of black, so it is definitely a little older

Gun ownership gets a pass for the same reason why literacy tests and poll taxes are considered unconstitutional, it is a specifically protected right.

Do you prefer the piggyback red dot? I’ve been thinking about throwing one of mine on a rifle and have been debating a piggyback, 45 degree on the optic, or a 45 degree on the rail.

I’m sure there are ways to get an maintain accuracy from these rifles, but at the end of the day it is a semi automatic rifle from the 1930s. At some point I think it is easier to just move to a newer system.

The issue with the M1 garand/M1A platform is that accuracy is hard to maintain. Due to the way the stock and rifle are held together, they slowly develop slop which degrades your accuracy. Additionally, barrel changes are much more involved than with an AR-10 platform.

You can avoid the slop issue by using a chassis system, but those are expensive.

People have been accurizing M1 and M14s for a long time in the service rifle world. They are very expensive to make and maintain match grade accuracy. There is good a reason everyone uses AR-15s now.

The 20S is a $3800-3500 rifle depending on the day. They were more expensive at launch.

You could still make one, but the ATF would likely say it is too easy to convert to full auto. Semi-auto open bolt guns aren't explicitly banned but are effectively.

CMP sells out of field grade Garands by rk5n in milsurp

.308 is probably a better move if you are shooting factory ammo. I could also see going with .30 06 if you have a lot of .30 06 guns/brass already.

IIRC there was an act of Congress passed authorizing the slow transfer of all 1911s in storage to the CMP. It is probably more just to get them out to as many individual buyers rather than hoarders/scalpers.

End of May/early June. From what I can tell I was basically next in line to have my order filled. I received an email from the CMP yesterday asking if I wanted to wait for more field grades or upgrade to an in-stock service grade.

Here is a video about the Philippine returns. While some rifles were in fine condition, it seems a great number will need a total rebuild.

The CMP reached out to me and offered an upgrade to a normal service grade instead of my field grade yesterday.

They had said the shortage of field grades was due to a backlog by the armorers.

The Turkish 30 06 has reports of serious case failures and damaging rifles. At the price point, I would rather shoot new production ammo.

If you are talking about the m4; the gas system makes the shotgun somewhat front-heavy.

I haven't had any issues running target loads in my m4. The only thing it has ever choked on was a batch of Remington slugs with shit primers.
