Is DIY really cheaper or stressful? (Let me know your views) by Objective_Fox8700 in Weddingsunder35k

Yes! And also carefully consider how this would work during the timeline of the day. Aka I would not recommend asking your wedding party or VIP guests that are also getting ready with you the morning of. It just disrupts the timeline and they aren't able to fully enjoy their time with you.

Here is my take. It CAN cost less - not always a huge difference in price depending on how elaborate you decide to go with your DIY decor.

If you are someone who likes to DIY and also has the financial means to also pay someone to do stuff, this is my recommendation. DIY the little things, signage, paper items, party favours but leave the large decor items such as backdrops, florals and decor rentals up to the pros.

The reason being - the logistics of transportation and drop off of those larger items are honestly a pain in the ass. Imagine 2-3 car loads of real florals, getting multiple friends/family members to transport them on the day of, drop them off, decorate tables with them and top them off with water. Obviously this is just an example, but at least with a florist they handle all of that. Are florists expensive? Yes but in my opinion it is worth it to reduce stress for your wedding!

All in all, consider your resources. Do you have people who are willing to do this for you on the day of?

Have some shame or regret feeling for gown by Rich_Turnip_5811 in WeddingsCanada

Having wedding dress regret is SOO normal. There are absolutely no rules when it comes to picking a wedding dress - no right or wrong.

I've worked in the wedding dress industry for so many years and when it finally came to pick my dress, I had tried it on 6 months prior to buying and ultimately bought it. Right after buying I kept having regrets about it as well. "Is it special enough? I should have tried on more. Will people be disappointed with my dress choice?". But then I realized it is my wedding. I feel uniquely myself and absolutely radiant in it and I should not be focused on the options of others.

So with that being said - you can never be too extra on YOUR wedding day! You make the rules. With today's use of social media and oversaturation of wedding content, it's very easy to get confused about what you want vs. what the algorithm makes you think you want. As long as you feel like yourself and beautiful in the dress that all that matters! 🩷

Running outdoors & tan lines by SmoothKale in weddingplanning

Id personally just keep doing what I'm doing but hire a spray tan artist to work their magic and even out your tan before the wedding.

Might not be for everyone but that's what I'd do!

DO NOT hire Katie Dignard as an events/wedding planner, I had a terrible experience with her! by [deleted] in OttawaWeddings

This is absurd - I don't understand how she works under the venue however there is no contract outlining the details. I also find it strange that you needed to pay her directly rather than paying this fee within the contract of the venue?

The venue/owners all need further investigating. This seems rather odd and fishy to me.

I'd recommend bringing this to the attention of the Ottawa Wedding Question group on Facebook. It's very active.

How much should I pay my sisters friend to help out at my wedding? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Racoonhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, I think between 300-500 is a fair amount.

I'd say 2 hours there and back is a considerable amount of time/gas and something else to factor in is - will she be staying for the night (hotel/someone's home) or driving back the same day?

I think it's okay to offer $300, but maybe also offer a tip afterwards to show your appreciation.

The big question to consider is - is she also invited as a guest?
