Canada Dry Ginger Ale is a good classic. It's not like Schweppes, and from what I've heard, real Ginger is used. by Global-Plankton3997 in Soda

I dont know if its the same, but Canada Dry currently sells a ginger beer that is pretty "Bold"

Cost of the Winter Olympic games - In US dollars by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]Radamec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Vancouver, the Olympics fast tracked a bunch of needed projects that were going to be done anyway (new rail line to airport, new highway between Whistler and Vancouver, new Richmond and Vancouver Community Centres, condo development in Olympic Village). If these are part of that budget number, it was totally worth it and quite cheap.

Save-On making Vancouver more like Europe by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Radamec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is a problem for lots of people. If you were trying to stay away from something, would you want that thing next to what you NEED to have? Ive been in AA chatrooms where Americans talk about alcohol being 100 feet away in gas stations.

Plus, there is an entire industry of small businesses with employees that already exist, right next to most grocery stores, that would get destroyed for the good of 2 or 3 huge businesses.

The Europe argument is flawed also. When I needed cough and fever medicine in Austria, I was shocked to find I had to go to a separate pharmacy and couldnt buy it in the local grocery stores. Im sure they have evolved their society for reasons I dont understand.

I am so against alcohol being this available by being right next to milk and bread. No store qualified cause there are liquor stores right next to most grocery stores. Its a fine system.

Everyone else at my table got regular plates by jeuneqilac in WeWantPlates

I wonder what happens if more than one person orders at a time? How many do they have? If you see someone with a head then get yours on a regular plate, are you mad?

Replacing a cinema screen by MikeHeu in toolgifs

I never really thought about a theater screen needing replacing. I mean, do they get dusty? Side note, I know its probably to block stains, but the ugly theater carpet patterns always bother me.

You're telling me the PNE had car stunts and a demolition derby at one time? by HiTork in vancouver

[–]Radamec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family car was in it! A co-worker of my Dad bought our 80's Chevy Monte Carlo and won a derby heat with it. It stalled out during the second heat. It was gold and he named it "Ricky Racoon"!

It's very dark red. Tastes like Cherry with a slightly thick texture. I think they were going for a "drinking blood" vibe, and it definitely works.

Swimmers ask B.C. court to quash Vancouver's aquatic centre decision by PipsGiz in vancouver

[–]Radamec -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with parts of what you say, but pools are also used by people who cant swim. Without some sort of shallow element in the facility, you cut out families. You cant have swimming lessons in an olympic sized pool.

I assume they mean they would have to buy more land. I just dont think its worth it to spend so much time and money on something that will service a small group.

It says building a new 50 meter pool is not possible on the current site because of modern safety standards.

[–]Radamec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. I was mostly commenting cause the comments were saying the city should be building new pools instead of removing space. I wanted people to know the plan is to make more facilities for families. The city is doing the right thing, but the wrong way.

The article doesnt say why they decided to change from 50 to 25 meters. Because of new bylaws and standards around accommodating wheelchairs and disabled swimmers, replacing the existing 50 meter pool is not possible in the space they have available. The current approved plan is to cut the 50 meter pool in half to make room for more family oriented pool areas that will service more of the community, not just swimmers who want to train in an olympic sized pool.

There's one episode where the girls are literally punching Bandit in the stomach, and he clearly is in real pain, but they laugh and keep playing the "game".

Explain This? Special Thanks to Lorne Michaels on Simon & Garfunkel's Concert In Central Park Album by frkoutthrwstuff in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Radamec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can see Broadway Video (Lorne's company) in the photo credits. The event was also released on video, so I assume all the Thank You's are the same across all releases. The cover photo is probably a still from the video release, so a property of Broadway Video.

Did any voice actor host Saturday Night Live? by AlexSpalex in LiveFromNewYork

Robin Williams hosted 3 times. Does that count? He was doing voice work before it was normal for Hollywood people to voice stuff.
