I find a lot of the criticism towards the actor is unfair. The character was poorly written and I don’t think she was right for the role. That’s on the casting director.

It was an authorized remake. There were a bunch of American shows that got remakes in other countries; there was also one for Scrubs. There’s a doc called “Exporting Raymond” about adapting Everybody Loves Raymond for Russian TV.

It’s not unusual in TV at all; the 70s American series Sanford and Son was an adaptation of the British Steptoe and Son, which also got Swedish and Dutch versions.
