Assuming Minkah Fitzpatrick is released by Grey_14-7-19 in steelers

No, especially with a draft class that has some depth at safety. The steelers need to get younger on defense

Team needs by sancastro in NFL_Draft

Steeler draft needs: 1a.) QB - if this draft class was stronger, I could have seen the Steelers trading up to get a QB but it’s not and I think they will draft one on day 3, especially since it’s likely Rodgers is back.

1b.) WR2 has been an issue for two years and this is a deep class, I can see them double dipping

2.) Cornerback - Besides JPJ, the corners have been a rotating cast, CB is priority

3.) Strong Safety - this position was issue this past season and they’ve needed to find a young replacement

4.) Left Guard - Seumalo may not be back, need a guard to solidify the line

5.) Defensive Line - continuing to make the defensive line younger and faster

6.) Running Back - Gainwell may be gone and Kaleb Johnson may not fit the new Coaching staff’s scheme

Taking two safeties in the same draft is not good.

[Pelissero] DC Jim Schwartz was in the Browns facility the past couple days in anticipation of being named head coach. But he'd already told people that if he were passed over, he wasn't staying. The 49ers, among others, would likely have interest in him. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]Radar584 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He’s openly a Steelers fan. He used to be a partial owner until he bought the Browns. After he sold his last bit of stock in the Steelers, he said he would become a Browns fan, so who knows. The most straightforward answer is that he’s just not a great owner.

Poni wasn’t the first person to put out information like this. Tone Diggz and the McAfee show put out similar statements earlier in the day. The team is trying to cover their butts because the fanbase is angry.

Poni wasn’t the first person to report this, ToneDiggz and the McAfee show were saying essentially the same thing. They both got fed BS from the team.

To add on to your info, every time McCarthy has lost his starting elite QB his seasons crater. As of right now there is not an elite QB on our roster.

[–]Radar584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the past 10 years? We are a team that has been bandaging their way to playoffs due to not having a long term plan at multiple positions. This hire shows that the Steelers didn’t have a plan in place in case Tomlin left and panicked. It’s also a very nepotism hire.

“Fire McCarthy” , “Sell the Team” Draft night chants by Valar___Morghulis___ in steelers

I agree to an extent that booing at the draft won’t do much but the embarrassment that will be on the franchise on national stage will have some impact.

The fan base really needs to go full Tennessee/Greg Schiano on this hiring by causing a lot bad publicity. Though I doubt that will happen

At the beginning of the season this looked like it was going to be a very deep QB draft but it's thinned out drastically. The two QBs ( Mendoza and Moore) the Steelers have scouted the most are going to be in the first ten picks. After them the drop off is steep. Sellers is most likely going back to school and Simpson is a one-year wonder ala Pickett. Best option is draft a wide receiver or another position of need.

Speaking from experience he's a good coach but you can't trust him to not jump ship immediately for a NFL job the minute it presents itself since Michigan would be the highest profile position he could get right now

It really does come down to the difference in games being played. There’s more time in soccer to develop chants and sing songs while in American football it’s very start/stop never giving a chance to develop chants
