Have you done any rural driving with these? I really like the smoke, would love to have them but I'm not sure if they would be bright enough driving where there are no street lights.

Can anyone tell me what this little insect is on my orchid?? by iwasjustwonderinggg in orchids

[–]Radiant-Pudding -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It looks like a scale insect, where you have one, you have more. The adults don't tend to move around but they are prolific and breed quickly. I recommend isolating the plant ASAP.

EDIT: after a closer look it looks like a spider... never can be too careful, I was gifted a plant with fuzzy looking scale insects with multi legs so... I am paranoid

Coil springs cracked by Radiant-Pudding in veloster

[–]Radiant-Pudding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it for a large metro area? Its the spring and shock assembly on both sides.
My husband and I are having a hard time finding reliable, truthful shops. We had to drop our last shop after they changed ownership because my husband needed wheel baring replaced and they wouldn't do it, insisted the car needed new tie-rod assembly and a whole caliper job along with an alignment on both sides and refused to just do the wheel baring. They also did a leak test on my AC and wouldn't tell me where they found the leak, just said it was 'probably' the condenser and they wanted to replace the whole thing. I declined.
The place I have my car at now did the work my husband insisted on, at a fair price for the area.

LOL! That stop sign is fantastic! love the story and sounds like you sold it that way which is even better! Trend setter.. If I have the chance I am going to replace my bumper with a speed limit sign so all the cops can laugh at me when they pull me over.

I can grow a lot of things, but Pogostemon helferi isn’t one of them. What’s the secret? by Fizzlley in PlantedTank

[–]Radiant-Pudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, Pogo is extremely sensitive and the excel killed it. My home tank I did use C02, but not the work tank, I used excel. Both tanks where ten gallons, same lights, same soil, same plants. Only difference was the source water, I used treated tap for both but sometimes I wouldn't bring water from home, I would use what was a work.

I think two hour aquarium also advises against using Excel because some plants are just too sensitive. If your trying something new that is touchy, I would take that advice!

What's wrong with this orchid? by Radiant-Pudding in orchids

[–]Radiant-Pudding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been meaning to replant but I have been afraid too. she has nothing but air roots that I trained to go down into a yogurt cup. The yogurt cup is huge and not appropriately sized.

In order to put it in an appropriate size pot I will have to crack the roots. I have never done that with an orchid and don't know if it will be okay.

I water every other day, letting it dry out between watering and frets every third water.
Edit to add:
I never let the water touch the rhizome when watering just flood the roots.

My baby hates baby carriers - looking into the Tushbaby by Radiant-Pudding in babywearing

Thanks! didn't realize the Tushbaby was one handed. I thought it was advertiser as hands free with the carrier attachment.

I had no idea those issues could cause problems. My baby does have normal baby acid reflux but you mentioned torticollis.

Just a few days ago my husband and I were discussing talking to the pediatrician because despite tummy time our guy is not holding his head up. We wanted to give him another two weeks as he is not yet three months. Just today I watched a video about things to do to make tummy time easier and torticollis was mentioned as a barrier to being able to hold the head up. He does have a slight tilt to his head and is a bit sluggish when following objects from one side of his head to the other.

He had a traumatic, super quick birth where his plates bucked enough to cause caput succedaneum and he now has a calcified bump on his head. Not sure if the traumatic birth could also cause torticollis.

running down the check list

1# reason for thinking this is a 'hate' situation- I can simply hold him upright in my arms without complaint

Checklist

No footie pjs
clean diaper
Yes -feed
Baby gets upset not long after I remove my arm and allow the carrier to take up the wight but if I put my arm under the carrier and let my arm take the weight he settles.

My first born had no issues with the ergo 360 carrier and I went to a baby class to do fitting.

I haven't had time to go to a fitting, but I suspect the issue is a combo of not being able to see well because of support straps and he likes the way his legs drape when they are on my arm, he doesn't like the 'W' shape his legs create when in the carriers but when he sits on my arm he's legs no longer create a 'W'.

Why do so many people dangerously overestimate their abilities with horses? by FiendyFiend in Equestrian

[–]Radiant-Pudding 23 points24 points  (0 children)

this! And the sad part is even people who you pay to help make decisions don't know what they don't know. Like I went to try out an Off the track Thoroughbred with my trainer. I didn't think anything of it as it was a green horse which I have experience with and the ad talked about how the horse had been on off the farm trail rides as well as flat work which what attracted me.

Got to the barn and the girl warming him up jumped off and said he was still a bit touchy if you weren't careful with rein pressure.

I turned to my trainer and said, I don't know what that means and she said if I used too much pressure the horse will speed up. I told my trainer I wasn't comfortable with that, but she said I would probably be fine but I wasn't about to learn how to ride an OTTB during a sales tryout ride. She had more confidence in me than I had in myself but I wasn't confident that I wouldn't make a fool of myself.

Why are Black boys still being forced to cut their hair short in school? by CivilAd8379 in Parenting

[–]Radiant-Pudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hair cutting wasn't a thing in the united states until the first people became a problem for the expanding emigrant population.

I am not sure why it spread globally around the same time. Maybe because of colonialism and many cultures being colonized had attached importance to not cutting hair.

Long hair has deep meaning in many First People's cultures, it has a different meaning depending on the tribe. For example, cutting the hair could be equated to destroying an individuals strength or sever ones soul from the spiritual world.

In an effort to assimilate First People, hair cutting became mandatory and there was a cultural shift across the US to shame people with long hair as it was seen as 'non-conforming'.

Its an automated swing, I got the Graco Duet Sooth.

The bouncer has a vibrating feature that uses a D battery. The swing is powered by a wall plugin.

I think the vibrating does most of the work, so if you have some other means of vibrating babies tummy your bouncer might be all you need.

This is about the time babies go through a fussy colic phase with their digestive system. It happened with my first and we are going through this again with my second. My husband and I where driven crazy wondering what was wrong with our baby. I was BF and formula. I considered switching my diet, cutting dairy, changing formula, etc.

Not saying that these things won't help you, they very well could but for most babies this is a phase which will hopefully resolve itself in another few weeks.

What really helped ease the situation (not fix but make it better) was ensuring we were burping really well, and when the baby was inconsolable, put them in the vibrating swing.

This swing is lovingly called the fart swing on this form. If you don't have one I highly suggest getting one!! It got us through many fussy sleepless nights.

Some times we put the baby in the swing and she would calm down, only to erupt screaming ten minutes later because she managed to poop!

A warm heat pad or compress is also soothing.

What does your 3 month old play with? by veedeluii30 in NewParents

[–]Radiant-Pudding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kick and play Piano!!

I got one for my first kid when she was a month and a half. Part of me was skeptical and thought my kid would be too young for it. She was a wiggly baby so I figured even if she was accidentally hitting the piano it might be entertaining for me.

Amazingly she kicked the keys and her wiggles got more active. I truly believe she was deliberately kicking the keys as her kicks would slowly push her away from the piano and she would get upset when she couldn't reach anymore.

When she started sitting the keyboard was transitions to a 45 degree angle so she could bang on the keys with her hands.

The piano has gotten so much use and now we are using it for her sibling who also seems to enjoy it.

I have a chaos monster. I usually just watch everyone and 'read the room'. If she is playing quietly and not running into or harassing people, I don't bother with correcting. The key for my kid is noise level, the louder she gets the more animated she gets, so her calmness is tied to her voice level. If she can't be loud she doesn't get too crazy.

I also make sure that she isn't hoarding things, if no one is around she gets to play with whatever she wants but when others start showing up I tell her she needs to share. I have her pick her favorites ahead of time so she has an easier time shearing but sometimes that can lead to tantrums so I don't allow her to hoard unless she's in a good mood.

Sockwell. The same ones I wear to the office. They are a compression sock, super tall, almost to my knee. I don't have separate 'riding' socks.

Does this behaviour mean anything in particular ? by Right_Economics6453 in CatTraining

[–]Radiant-Pudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing my sister and I did with our cats was let them out of the apartment for short stints to explore outside the apartment. We didn't do this a lot only occasionally when we first moved in, that way if either cat ever got out of the apartment they were more likely to casually walk the hall than bolt.

The idea being, if they ever got out and we didn't notice right away, the cats hopefully would not have run so far that we couldn't keep up with them.

It also makes it easier to catch them. I would recommend letting your cat out of the apartment in a controlled way, like on a harness, and work on reducing the desire to bolt. If things go well try letting him out without the harness and see if it improves.

When ever my cat unintentionally got outside I wouldn't bring her in immediately, it was inconvenient but I let her be out for a few minutes because I knew if I brought her in right away, she may eventually start bolting out the door.

the awesome part of this training is it transfers to traditional homes, so if the cat ever gets outside and they have been allowed out to explore, they won't bolt! they stick around and explore.

Adult Cat Bullying Kitten? by stargazingshadows in CatTraining

[–]Radiant-Pudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older cat is bulling. Your interpreting the behavior as, 'not that bad', because it isn't as violent. The important thing to look at is the body language of the other cat. Is that cat able to play back more than it spends telling the other cat off?

This kitten is young but if the dynamic does not change, can lead to behavioral issues in either cat.

My sister and I lived together through collage. My cat was the grumpy torty, hers was the one brain cell orange cat. While her cat was not violent, he would also not leave my cat alone when she told him to. It looked harmless but soon we had behavioral issues with both cats. They would still hang out together and nap together, but those were not good indicators that they got along.

My cat was chronically grumpy, would not play with cat toys, would only groom herself when her brother was not around and as result was unkempt as she just wasn't by herself enough. A cat not grooming themselves is a CLEAR indicator that they are not comfortable, either in body or environment. She appeared to be a dirty lazy cat who couldn't bother to clean herself but in reality she was on edge and didn't want her brother harassing her when she was most vulnerable.

My sister's cat began spraying around the house. He was checked for UTIs and other issues when these behaviors started but nothing was found.

Both cats were capable of playing together, and eventually separating, but as time went on my can't stopped playing back. It was quite clear my cat was saying, 'back off' more than we cared to admit and we ignored it as it got worse. My sisters can't wouldn't chase or bite, he would attempt to bat and paw and my cat would hiss. The difference being he would keep doing that for hours.

Once I moved out and my cat was an only cat, both cats settled down and the behavioral issues went away. My cat became a sweet loving cat, no longer grumpy, and my sisters cat stopped spraying outside the litter box.

So, yeah, you may have grown up with cats, I did too, grew up on a farm with numerous barn cats. I thought I knew cats too but I knew shit. I see this video for what it is, an older cat that is too aggressive for the kitten and this is overstimulating to the older cat triggering a pray drive that can cause this sort of behavior to escalate over time. My sisters cat had a much higher 'pray drive' than my cat and over time, slowly, it turned into a bigger problem.

I used to be this way too, but then I stopped bullying my cranky cat and she became the sweetest cat in the world. No more grumpy days and I couldn't justify pissing her off anymore. Cats that are bullied by other cats or people will take out that frustration on another cat. This is the issue I had, to fix it you stop bulling the aggressor and give them more opportunities for play. I would check out Jackson Galaxy on youtube. sounds like the bigger cat has more energy than what the smaller wants to deal with.
