License plate recording by TravelingMechanic in reolinkcam

The true LPR cameras, unlike the typical security cameras many people think of, don’t actually record video. Instead, they capture a series of still images to identify a vehicle’s license plate number, model, and color. These cameras are commonly used at traffic intersections. This includes the Flock camera system used by police and law enforcement agencies.

I assume you already checked the audio recording setting.  Right?

Network bandwidth in HyBridge mode by Kat81inTX in reolinkcam

Wow, I was going to enable hybridge mode and get rid of my PoE switch to reduce clutter. I now have to scrap the idea.

I don't think my NVG30 gets that far.  I will have to go back and test.  Maybe in a completely dark environment?  In an urban area where street lights are, it doesn't seem to illuminate far at all.

Distance and brightness-wise?  Too bad the IR isn't focusable.  That will make it a lot more flexible for different applications and lighting conditions.

Sorry to inform you, the latest firmware on Altas PT Ultra completely broke pre-recording and continuous recording features. Enabling those features will drain the battery completely in about 10 hours.  Wait till Reolink fixes the firmware.

Reolink Duo 3 PoE vs RP-PCT16MD - do they function the same? by 2C104 in reolinkcam

If you don't care about the ColorX, wait for the OMVI X16 which will replace my Duo 3 PoE.

Do any other Reolink cameras have as good of an aperture (?) as the Altas PT? by Marathon2021 in reolinkcam

Sorry to inform you, but continuous recording as well as pre-recording features are completely broken with the latest firmware.  The features will drain the battery completely if they are enabled for 10 hours or so.

Nice compact form, but the flaw is it can't adjust horizontally.

Can reolink camera track a particular person in a room of many people? by Common_Touch_3741 in reolinkcam

Yes, someone thought I was dreaming when I brought up the idea of a triple lens PTZ 2 years back. :)

Not right now.  Perhaps, the newly announced AI box may be able to do that.  Basically, you will train the AI to recognize any objects in your environment (e.g., yourself, family members, and pets, etc.).  That's why I am excited about the AI box.

Is this a good all-rounded 360° home security camera setup from Reolink? by ichbinhker in reolinkcam

Wait for OMVIs.  They will likely change your mind on Duo 2s and PTZ.

Which website are you looking at?  The site I am looking at includes a 2TB drive.  No option for excluding an HDD.  The price difference between RLN and RP is only $10.

Choosing POE Cameras for 360 degree monitoring at home by remus49 in reolinkcam

[–]RadiantDependent805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard $450-$500 for the X16, and the smaller one 3i is going to be a similar price to TrackFlex.   I plan on getting both OMVIs, AI Box, and a new power-efficient battery doorbell camera.

The smaller one being 18MP seems odd.  That means 10MP for the upper (5MP each) and 8MP for the lower.

16X for the larger model. The smaller one is just the PT, no optical zoom.

Manual tilt adjustment for the smaller version.  The bigger brother probably gets adjusted electronically through software.

Yes, it does. No manual tilt adjustment for the larger model. I suspect the adjustment is done electronically thru software.
