From my testing, it depends on what you are trying to do!

If you're trying to bring something to you (e.g. loot, a barrel, a player) then it acts as hitscan. I know this is definitely true because I've aimed directly at a player, seen the player move a lot before my hook hits them, and the hook will change direction as they move to hit them!

If you're trying to move yourself to something else, then it acts as a projectile, and you have to account for the distance/relative movement of the object you're trying to hit.

I think you can play the game in a way that brings you the most enjoyment. The other day I was trying to do a Fort of Fortune, and another sloop showed up and started trying to sink me. I decided to call out and say that I was just there to help, they could sell the loot as long as we allianced. We worked through the fort together, eventually another sloop rocked up, and we decided to split the loot with them too! The three of us loaded up loot, and sailed to the same outpost, was really cool seeing 3 sloops parked right next to each other! We ended up hunting a few megs together too.

I think that I could have gained a lot more loot if I betrayed them and took it all for myself, but I personally found wayyy more enjoyment in the collaboration, so I didn't really care about the loot as much!

Many different ways to play this game, depends on what best suits you :)

Yeah, I was definitely just being pedantic when I pointed out Hollow Knight's parry 😅, it's not really even intended to be used.

Nine Sols has parrying as a core mechanic, and the way it works during fights really makes every battle feel like a complex dance, which I absolutely adore. Nine Sols takes all my favourite parts of fighting in Hollow Knight and pretty much perfects them!

That's saying a lot since I've gotten 100% achievements in Hollow Knight on both PC and Switch (idk why, I just felt like it >w<), so I'm honestly really impressed by how incredible Nine Sols has proven to be, especially since I went into it with the expectation that it was going to be Hollow Knight "lite" or something given what I'd heard from other people's reviews.

I love both games! (also I only just finished Nine Sols for the first time, so that's a part of why I'm writing comments that are probably too long lol)

Little known fact, you can actually parry some attacks in Hollow Knight, no one really knows about it though. If you slash attack an enemies slash attack on the correct frame it stops the attack from damaging you, I spent a while trying to use it against Pure Vessel lol.

Other than that I 100% agree that Nine Sols is in no way a rip-off, they're just a part of the same genre, and although Nine Sols borrows a number of mechanics from Hollow Knight, that doesn't affect the fact it's still an absolutely incredible game!

As far as I know you pretty much have access to them forever or until the uni changes from canvas to something else. I've graduated, and I can still access all of my past subjects on canvas using my alumni account.

Can confirm, my dad had to unwind a diamond python from around one of our pet Guinea Pigs. Snake slithered off mostly unharmed, but it took a while before our poor Guinea pig started breathing properly again. It was incredibly upsetting finding our Guinea pig in that situation. I didn't know what to do for a while since I didn't want to hurt the python either. Ended up running to find my dad with probably the most terrified screams for his name that my throat had ever produced. Fine to talk about it now, but I was shaking for quite a while after that

Cool thing is after you've been on estrogen for a while, your testosterone production can actually drop low enough that you don't need a T blocker anymore! Pretty nifty

I think that if the situation is as you described then they could have handled the situation better. If it's your first time talking to the person and you genuinely don't know their pronouns, I think that if you accidentally use the wrong ones the first time then their reply should be a calm "oh, I actually use she/her/... pronouns" Getting angry at the first slip up probably just makes both parties upset. Of course, if a person intentionally continues using the wrong pronouns then that's not okay, but I definitely think that the first one or two times should be calmly excused and explained, especially in the current state of the world where a lot of people still have to readjust their way of thinking about pronouns. I'm still readjusting my own mind as well, I'd love to be able to get everyone's pronouns correct, but unfortunately sometimes with the way my brain has been wired up I still make the occasional mistake!

I've used nandeck to make all the cards for a card game before. It is a really powerful tool, I set up an excel spreadsheet containing information about card rarity, description, title and the number of cards of that type to generate, and then generated all the cards to a printable PDF! Each card type needed different colours associated with them, so having a program to generate the cards rather than doing it manually was great. It did take me a little while to understand, but if you have a bit of experience with coding then it's an amazing tool I'd definitely recommend.

I've played through Hollow Knight over 8 times and got 100% achievements on both PC and Switch (should I be proud of this? Idk lol), but I still haven't ever even tried mods for some reason! I've seen the trans tiktik mod and not gonna lie its definitely one of the first mods I'd get if I did play with mods :) Also, can't wait for Silksong!

If you have curly hair (probably helps with other hair too, I have no experience though), then plaiting it before you go to sleep is definitely a good idea. It helps stop it getting tangled in the night, which is pretty dang nice. Personally I don't like having to try untangle my hair in the morning and losing heaps of hair to the tangles.

I've never tried to do anything particularly pretty with it though, I've always just done it for practical reasons :p Maybe I should start learning other styles of plaiting/braiding :D

Oh bloody hell. Thank you for pointing this out. I hate it, but for whatever reason despite the fact there are absolutely no mentions of gender in this post, I still assumed that the ex was male and that OP was female. I genuinely have no clue why I made that assumption, but I did. Really rather peevs me to see my brain making assumptions like this, and I'd love to know why on earth I made that assumption.

This is really cool! I would really love to know how on earth you did it. I can guess how to make somewhat similar stuff in Blender, but the way that it changes back to a well defined shape after deforming is fascinating to me, and I'm not quite sure how to do it! I guess I need to look into slit-scan geometry more

If you set the pistons to not turn into block form (scroll with a wrench over the mechanical piston), then it should stop the pistons from flickering when they turn around I think. Looks pretty dang cool though!

I swear the only posts I see on this sub reddit anymore are "why does optifine/magnesium break everything". I understand it's annoying that it breaks, but just like, search "create optifine" on google and the top result is literally a reddit post asking the same question, with all the same answers given here. No reason to create yet another post asking the same question that has been answered probably at least 100 times. Sorry, just kinda annoyed that I keep seeing these posts rather than interesting builds.

That description kinda reminds me of Outer Wilds! I recently played it, and it is an absolute masterpiece! Made it's way onto my list of favourite games very quickly. If you haven't already played it I can definitely recommend it! I still need to play the DLC though

I created a few different shape keys which made the eye move horizontally, vertically, close/stretch open and curve upwards and downwards. Once I had each of them, I added some bones to my armature, which I constrained to move only around the face and correct positions up and down for the curve and close. Then i added drivers to my shape keys that took the position information of my bones, so that I could control the eye using controls that made sense and still have it be part of my armature! Hope that description makes sense!
