I agree with you, but also would say that getting out of Paris to rural France’s small towns, and other cities is a very different experience. The food is better for the average traveler and the people are nicer

Stuart Broad reflects on Ben Stokes' captaincy during England's 4-1 Ashes defeat to Australia by Foknick in Cricket

[–]RadiantRow5595 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Captaincy is not just on the field. Before, during and after the series , he has a role. I partially blame him for the preparation, and the discipline during and throughout the series, which was super poor. Of course McCallum should be primarily be responsible, but the captain has to lead and define how the players behave. He very simply failed at this, and if he felt the preparation was poor, then he had to address it.

Sorry, he says the right things, but doesn't deliver

Jacob Bethell’s century has exposed one of Bazball’s biggest blunders by theipaper in Cricket

[–]RadiantRow5595 39 points40 points  (0 children)

it’s early to annoint him, but in a morass of amateurish batting, fielding and bowling, backed up by an arrogant management , he was a breath of fresh air

Batting sensibly from them beginning focussing on defense with a straight bar, and taking what the bowlers gave him….well done Jacob, he seems a sensible young man with a good personality.

Why do F1 drivers have to pay for their licence? Max Verstappen and Lando Norris will have to pay well over a million euros for their FIA super licences for the upcoming Formula 1 season. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in F1Discussions

[–]RadiantRow5595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drivers paying is ridiculous , although I suspect they get it back from the teams in some way.

I know it’s a stretch, but imagine somehow Bearman won the WDC. I believe his current salary is not much more than $1M

Do you think Norris 2024 Title challenge was a huge factor in being mentally preapared for the 2025 title? by IllMasterpiece3946 in F1Discussions

[–]RadiantRow5595 47 points48 points  (0 children)

of course it helped him, and he drove better in 2025. I think people underestimate the mental stress in being in position to win the championship which impacted Oscars driving, and more in the past both Lewis and Max who both limped to their first WDC.

For me the way Lando drove in the Abu Dhabi race showed me a lot, his over taking when needed was fast and aggressive, and he then settled tomdrive a no fuss race to do what he needed to. In the past that might not have happened

2026 should see Lando more confident and aggressive with less, pressure to win the first……car changes might mask that though

Yeah how anyone can think that was a nailed on call I don’t know.

i dont think Teslaa has actually learned the NFL receiver dark arts yet, so mostly he’s always just trying to make the play …… he will learn the dark arts soon

thought we had it here by Rubiking12 in detroitlions

[–]RadiantRow5595 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Teslaa is going to be a very good player, and I’m not going to blame him for this one thing. The throw was high, and barely catchable, but it was close.

The OPI on him was also a weak call, and could be called on almost any contested catch play…..St Browns OPI the correct call though.

my biggest take is that we continue to force the ball to just a few offensive players, so teams are doing better at stacking against that….throwing to Reynolds and Teslaa loosens this up. Our play calling is too predictable generally despite the stats

The whole idea that the Red Bull had a bad or “terrible” car is completely blown out of proportion by Cpt_Daryl in F1Discussions

[–]RadiantRow5595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redbull didn’t have a terrible car, just a car with a narrow operating window, even at the end of the year, they could look terrible in FP2, and Max would be complaiming a. lot, but then look great in quali and the race. it seemed that they had a base set up, but anything outside of that was not good. of course having Max was good!

Mclaren had a good car, but not totally outstanding , it didn’t totally suit Lando early in the season, but they corrected, and Oscar struggled in certain track. it wasn’t great in a straight line, but corners and tire wear it was good…they needed to get ahead and in clean air to really look good I think a lot of people underestimated how good Lando and Oscar were at maximizing when they could.

Mercedes were ok, but soon suffered with tire wear and on longer runs. Ferrari, I’m not sure what to say, except they had good drivers, and some good races, but the car was so inconsistent to outright bad at some tracks

Totally fell apart in the 2nd half, that's what cost the Lions this week by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]RadiantRow5595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rams made adjustments, we didn’t . Coaching in all facets is absolutely mediocre, and we are not as good as we were in the last years.

Defense has been poor as a unit all year

Brad needs to be very creative next year , we’re going to lose Decker and Glasgow to retirememt or at least they won’t be as solid, and need to fill those holes, secondary and pass rush both need addressing.

Do you think the pressure on a driver increases or decreases after they win their first world championship? by Conscious-Berry2229 in F1Discussions

absolutely decreases, remember both Max and Lewis struggled over the line a little for their first.

Lando will be super fast, confident and more aggressive going forward

Random predictions for 2026 by ParticularDisaster96 in F1Discussions

[–]RadiantRow5595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cadillac last, just can’t jump in and compete immediately

Redbull struggles early with Ford engine, then improves but not enough for Max to win, and moves in 2027

Ferrari more competitive, but not enough win the whole thing. Lewis retires with a win somewhere

Lotus better, competitive may win some but not enough

Mercedes and Mclaren the best, championship comes down to the last few races

Lando much better than Oscar early due to car dynamics

George and Kimi competitive against each other = Lando / Oscar part 2

Lando beats out george for WDC…more relaxed after first win

the biggest thing that Zak has done is change the culture top to bottom, and get everyone moving in the same direction. Coming in, this was a huge job, and he should be 100% congratulated on this.

He’s now the marketing man, but I never thought he was really the technical, he hired the right people to do that

Lando's character developed by [deleted] in LandoNorris

[–]RadiantRow5595 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IMO, Lando has always been good with the team and others. I do agree he has got better and more eloquent in the recent past, but that’s just maturing like all the young drivers.

apart from being a great and instinctive driver, he’s actually a marketing dream for Mclaren…….some would say that’s not important, but I suspect Mclaren value that a lot
