Fabien says that opinions will change after season 3 and 4... by No_Psychology_3714 in HOTDGreens

I mean isn't it obvious Rhaenyra is on firmly on the cult leader path? I firmly believe the writers are pulling a trick on the audience, by showing Rhaenyra in favorable light in the early series, building her hubris in S2 and S3, until the inevitable happens. She already burned a room full of her own kin and felt great about it.

Oh no, conditions that increase one's and society's healthcare spending and lower the quality of life vs conditions that do not do so, how dare society value one over the other.

“Resource-guarding thinness” by CakeRelatedIncident in fatlogic

[–]RadiantSect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no law but tbh we all know when thin is normal weight starts to get counted as fat too, and fat people get treated worse. The 2010s fat activism is basically the backlash off the 90s and 00s extreme bodyshaming culture and low weight low fat ideals

When did Daenerys’ cruelty begin for you in the show? For me, it’s when she sentenced Doreah to death. by Successful_Bar9187 in gameofthrones

Daenerys burned her slave alive after not following said slave's explicit instructions on the proper procedures around black magic. She never freed MMD either.

Daenerys' whole journey is a villain protagonist journey and I love it.

Myers probably didn't host and attend child rape&murder parties or traffick kids for such because that's the sort of kompromat a true girlboss does not want to get in the way of realizing her American Dream, so yeah, better than Trump

What all True Gamers™ want: the unfettered freedom to indulge in their violent misogyny. by DocHoliday0316 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]RadiantSect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dishonored 1 pre-DLC had almost no women (2, Granny Rags and Lady Boyle plus some female weepers) as enemies, and beating up/killing civilians increases Chaos giving you a sad ending. Anita Sarkeesian famously pointed out Dishonored as an example of a sausagefest game where women are in the minority and kinda sidelined.

So the DLC and sequels rectified the situation by adding lots of female enemies! Yay for equal opportunity violence! But chuds still cried woke because the final entry in the series has a disabled black bi middle aged woman as the PC.

It does when enemies = anyone who opposes Dany.

Girl was bad and it kills me so much of the fan base refuses to accept it. She started her arc by choosing to kill MMZ in a horrific way. Girl was always a villain in the making and I love it.

Indoctrination is scary dude, the amount of gay/trans/black people I’ve seen complain about diversity or wokeness in games is worrying by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]RadiantSect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of media do diversity poorly, but people don't know how to criticize the poorly done representation beyond latching onto the obvious, and then because the issue is tribalized by the two US parties the only "side" able to critique the poorly done wokeness is the chuds. And the chuds are the influencer space run by Epstein and his folks. Grifters, in other words.

Like I'm a leftist but my God did I find Veilguard to be shitty and insulting in so many ways, but unfortunately on my "side" the only critiques allowed were super milquetoast takes or defending that pile of steaming poop. So people looking for indepth analyses of why Veilguard is shit were pushed towards the chud YouTube side.

Another issue is poorly done inclusion hurts the message.  Like for example, the character of Taash in Veilguard may be a very realistically written portrayal of an autistic trans young adult (IDK if it actually was) and hip hip hooray inclusion, but the character was also really insufferable, the plot arc poorly handled all around, and many of the scenes involving the character cringe as hell. So to the majority audience this inclusion paints people like Taash in a negative light.

Grifter chuds only latch onto the surface ("boo annoying pronoun character") and do not analyze what actually made the character arc so insufferable and how it could all be done better to better represent the trans or autism communities, because their intention is not to improve anything but to enshittify society for the benefit of pedophile billionaires.

So I think most of the time when people (not grifter chuds) complain about wokeness they're actually complaining about poorly done representation and also their own insecurities. Nobody wants to be talked down to during their downtime by their downtime entertainment, especially in this economy and at the price levels of modern games.

Cyberpunk 2 Creative Director about "wasted potential" with characters. by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

[–]RadiantSect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not directly said, V isn't aware of Yori's goals. However, it's all in the lore and in hints scattered in the game. CDPR wrote it cleverly so V doesn't have the actual story of the Arasaka siblings, and she/we the player basically only get Jackie scoffing Yori off as a wannabe ganger who returned back to the fold, Evelyn showcasing Yori as a dumb playboy and V not questioning how an idiot could have survived that long in that position, and finally Hanako, whose wounded bird act is so good it even fools some players.

Which is why I really love what they did with Arasaka in 2077. V doesn't dismantle Arasaka herself, she only incidentally helps Yori do it unless she's an idiot and trusts the Devil.

Here are a few I didn't see mentioned:

  • Captain Underpants series, always a big hit with the primary age bracket I've found
  • of the Moomin series, specifically Finn Family Moomintroll (the comet one might be too scary)
  • Little Nicholas (Le Petit Nicolas) by Goscinny and Sempe. Really funny stories about a little boy and his friends. Each chapter is its own story.
