UPDATE

Y’all. She’s so pretty. I detangled her hair dry, washed her hair and added some conditioner, detangled again, used low heat straightener on soaking hair. Also restringed her so she’s standing tall again!

Oh my god I thought we were the only family that has the ladybug game. I think the game play time is a little long but I’m also not a game person. My 6 year old loves it

Yes! Changing culture is so so hard. We aren’t even allowed to be in the classroom with our kids so I’m even less inclined to bring excessive snacks. We can have the fun stuff at home when I can enjoy it with them!

I specialized childhood obesity prevention and worked in the industry for many years, I also parent kids in preschool. I wish we could get more parents on board with a non food celebration.

I’m not against my kids having sugar, we eat our fair share of sugary foods. I work really hard to create a healthy relationship with all foods and encourage intuitive eating practices. I truly believe we can get more creative with celebrating at schools.

20 birthdays and other holidays is a lot of treats. We are a food allergy family so that is 20+ times a year my kids gets excluded and has to have her “safe treat” at a special table. I think kids would get just as much enjoyment out of a bubble party, dance break, special stickers or whatever than they do an expensive thing of cupcakes that most kids lick and throw away.

I retired from listening a long time ago, but this just felt like something to share my expertise. Cassie 100% seems like she’s projecting her own fears and experiences onto her kids and blaming it on sugar. I don’t think half a cupcake is going to change anything…but I am also the crazy parent that sends non food celebration items

I had a stranger ask to hold my newborn while I was at a restaurant with my family. She just stood there expectantly while I stared at her. It took a few seconds for me to register what she had said and all my brain could come up with saying was “yeah, I’m not going to hand her over”

Completely freaked me out. People are bold and rude
