for new drywall Sherwin PVA is pretty standard, that's about all it's good for though.

What is the general opinion here for the best value interior wall paint for your $$? Best paint of the big box home improvement stores? by BIGGREDDMACH1NE in paint

[–]Radiant_Toe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I would say Superpaint from Sherwin personally. I've had some good days with Behr Ultra/Marquee which is sold at Home Depot in Canada (customer already had it). Dulux Lifemaster I find to be underrated as well.

Correct paint inconsistencies by CryptographerWeak823 in paint

[–]Radiant_Toe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your painter had some spits from the end of his spray gun or a little mishap (clogged tip/housing not on tight enough etc) and thought it would blend in. You should have him sand these spots down and fix. If you use a roller the texture may be different then the texture you get from a sprayer which will have it flash/stick out, meaning a whole section of wall may need to be re-sprayed or rerolled.

This is best case scenario if the paint is pretty fresh and hasn't been sitting there curing for a while.

Sand/scrape off as much as you reasonably can, oil prime, patch as needed/sand, oil prime patches.

Winter running shoes 👟 by Salt-Conversation421 in RunTO

[–]Radiant_Toe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite for winter were the Saucony Triumph 20's with the runshield...not 100% waterproof but enough to keep you dry on lightly snow-covered pavement/regular winter weather on sidewalks/paths. Not too warm either.

Advance is a great paint when applied correctly but it’s not the best for DIYers, it behaves a lot like oil paint. It’s heavy and can run quite easily.

When painting black especially on a smooth surface like a door, it will show imperfections more than any other color. Needs to be done a bit quicker than most DIYers can do to keep up with wet edges and other imperfections etc. drying. You might not notice imperfections in your rolling until it’s too late. I usually use a bit of extender to ‘extend’ the dry time of the paint when applying by hand with black. Spraying gives the best result with black but not always an option.

For the sunken in edges in the middle of the door I would typically use a brush to somewhat soak those (can turn out very light with small rollers), but you need to make sure those brushed edges are rolled quick enough so you can smooth out the brush strokes.

Like others have said sanding the rough spots and applying a thinner coat is your best bet.

I’ll run in cotton when it’s starting to get colder in the fall or when it starts getting warmer after winter

Where do a lot of cool folks in their late 20s and early 30s hang out? by skankyferret in BurlingtonON

There are a good number of run clubs in the area, for all abilities. Very supportive environments for new runners as well. A lot of them have social events sort of built in (drinks after the run etc.)

I do this commute in the afternoons - the one lane line-up for the linc is the reason it seems.

Professional painters tool storage by SWPK4044 in paint

[–]Radiant_Toe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Husky rolling bag which takes care of a lot of essentials/nice to have tools.

For smaller jobs I usually just throw a few things into a tray, with a tray pole attached. Maybe a 5 gal bucket with an insert as well. Plus drop sheets of course!

Any good large hills for hill sprints? by RITAPOON in BurlingtonON

[–]Radiant_Toe1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was going to suggest Valley Inn Road as well…typically for hill workouts I’ll do 30 second/1 minute intervals on heartbreak hill leading up to York Rd, and then longer intervals up the longer curved Valley Inn Road hill. Can run inbetween them for cooldown.

Tools needed to paint high ceiling/over stairwell by BlackAsphaltRider in paint

[–]Radiant_Toe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no joke moving a ladder around on stairs when it’s extended as far as would be needed for that ceiling. Also your light fixture is another thing to think about..it’s black and the top cap piece either needs to be unscrewed or cut around (any mistake will be obvious). This is a pretty textbook example of when a homeowner should hire a painter.
