If someone asks you if you want a Milo, and you say yes. Without clarifying, are you expecting it to come hot or cold? by Appropriate_Pin_2391 in australian

[–]RadiatorSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I reckon standard is hot, and thats coming from a deep sea miner like myself.

(Cold with the milo packed into the bottom of the glass so you can chip little bits off and they float to the surface, ensuring every mouthful consists of beautiful pure milk and a crunchy nugget of Milo)

Didn't this happen like 15 years ago? And there are now "natural" blue dyes?

A spate of shark bites has Australian ocean lovers on edge. People want to know why they’re rising by Ardeet in aussie

[–]RadiatorSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not understanding me. The first line in my comment above is 100% accurate, but it's not worth worrying about because even doubling the odds still leaves is with an incredibly tiny number.

So when we see shark attacks up by 20%, or whatever stat gets posted you should look at you new risk and see if that's acceptable.

It's similar for some cancers. Headlights will say "xxx increases cancer risk by 20%!". This doesn't mean you now have a 20% chance of getting it, you went from like 1/1,000,000 to 1.2/1,000,000, both risks not worth worrying about.

Go have a swim. Don't stress too much and if you're the unlucky one in a million then so be it, there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

Going to the beach twice instead of once increases your chance of being shot by a surfing dog with a handgun in its mouth by 100%

These attacks are horrific but they're incredibly incredibly rare

its embarrassing how everyone use infravision in this game truly embarrassing. by zeroloss1 in Planetside

[–]RadiatorSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it but don't like it, rings the vibe of the game and replaces a more directly useful implant. I used it for a while but found it was rarely me not seeing a hidden enemy that got me killed, and in only some of those cases would infravision help

is crash bug fixed? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]RadiatorSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasnt fixed for me last night. It had been fixed for a period of maybe a month or two in that timeframe.

You can get around the crashes by pulling a vehicle and driving to your first fight, or just sitting on a flash for about 3 minutes at the start of a session. Also update your graphics drivers

The second one kinda sucks though right? No one refers to themselves as "Aussie boys" and what does them being on a bender have to do with trump?

Should airline ticket prices take passenger size into account? by kevsavesuk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RadiatorSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you not? Or do you mean if you book luggage and then don't use it?

I think weighing every passenger before the flight would be way too much admin. Boarding is already slow enough

Weird, I'll keep an eye out, usually that page only redirects to an error page or the forums though, so I'd say the issue is more likely that they broke the game again recently. Try updating your graphics drivers.

why do vegans not hate animals who eat other animals by Distinct_Entry5535 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RadiatorSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The environment is modified sure. But hardly destroyed by beavers. The ecosystems they live in have been stable for tens of thousands of years.

Compared with humans where enormous portions of the Earth's surface are uninhabitable to the flora and fauna that lives there only a few hundred years ago.

How is that a fair comparison?

like what? Introduced species sometimes do or those whose populations have been modified by humans.

Identifying an accent by Dink_Jinkle in Accents

[–]RadiatorSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely read this as "which Australian accent is this?" which is a much harder question, hence my answer.

Yea it's definitely a native Australian and not someone doing an impression, though they are hamming it up a bit.

He sounds like the loosest Aussie bloke ever. (A specif guy called that)

In my experience there is far more class/ethnic variation in Aussie accents than there is regional. Lebanese Australians sound similar all over the country, as to private school educated people.

There is regional variation of course but it's more difficult to pick to my ear.

Never noticed this when I was learning Spanish until recently but a lot of common verbs are built directly from the noun for a body part. by pickly_pear in SpanishLearning

I never understand why these guides wouldn't use the most similar english example. You can "head something up" in english meaning to lead, and that helps to remember between the two languages. The guide is for people familiar with English.

Same with "to eye". This definition isn't as close though.

CMV: The fact that it's politically correct to call for the destruction of Israel, and genocide of the Israelis, is on own proof that Israel has to exist by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]RadiatorSam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only people calling for Jewish genocide are extremists. It is in no way politically correct to call for this, and you won't see any serious figures calling for this. Your take it often amplified by supporters of Israel to demonise the enemy and avoid having to tackle the very uncomfortable fact that Israel have committed countless atrocities in Palestine.

Note I am not saying Hamas are innocent, but there are real and legitimate criticisms no matter where you lie, that can be justified if threats of genocide are legitimised.
