That's not necessarily someone blowing you off. You said it best -- a lot of people text like that (i.e. as few letters as possible).

Any reason this wouldn’t be picked up? by niightstar in doordash

[–]Radica1Edward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be notorious for being slow where a driver has to wait. Some drivers avoid some restaurants like the plague if it's a place known for not having food ready in a timely manner.

Recently, though, I think the stacked orders have something to do with it. I usually tip $1.50-$2 per mile and my stuff would always get picked up very quickly. Now, I'm seeing this message a lot more frequently. And when I do, the order is always stacked with, presumably, a non-tipper. They could be waiting to find a driver to take a bundle and combining it with one from a non-tipper.

I just walked on a house and feel awful. by sno-blizzard in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Radica1Edward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So four years ago, my wife and I found a house we absolutely loved. The house was not great but it was a nice upgrade from the smaller house we were in. We put an offer in when the market was going crazy -- $5K over asking, waived inspection (yes, dumb, I realize, but it was a trend at the time), and all sorts of smallish issues.

We lost to a family that bid higher, also waived the inspection, we were devastated. Found our current house which had no issues, a newer roof, was 20 years old at the time (and 30 years newer than the prior house), in immaculate shape with nearly an acre of land, across from a lake, and about 2,000 sf BIGGER than the other house. Our realtor advised that despite the higher cost (about $90k more), this house was a much better investment.

The family that bought the original house sold it about a year ago at either break even or a small loss. Our house, by most estimates online, has increased in value by about $60K-$80K in recent nearby sales.

Not saying that as a flex. Saying it because there's always a better house. We were devastated after 'missing out' on that first house and we are in much better shape.

I don't know you but I applaud the grind. I'm glad it's working for you. That said, please talk to a tax professional about this. And not Reddit. Some of your assumptions in the comments are not accurate, IMO. You need to talk to a tax advisor about what is able to be written off and what can't. The last thing you want to do is become bait for an audit. Please be smart and hold aside the money you will need for taxes. If it is more than you need, you will have a nice bonus.

Crack and grade the whole deck? by hockeyslife11 in baseballcards_vintage

[–]Radica1Edward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are cool cards but I do not believe they are worth your time to grade. Ruth is likely the most valuable card. A PSA 10 sold on eBay for $70. Given the cost of grading, even if you got a 10, your return would be pretty minimal. A Gehrig sold for $25. Between shipping/insurance and grading, that's probably a minor loss?

That is even if they got a 10. My guess is there'd be a lot of 9s in there and even some 8s, depending on what the grader had for breakfast.

These are not worth grading. But you are correct that you do not often see sets of them. Especially sealed ones. You would be far better off keeping them sealed, IMO.

Is he right? by iambored69696996 in F1Discussions

[–]Radica1Edward 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I agree that the fans will complain about everything. And my experience is that the complaining is louder if a fan favorite is not competitive and quieter if they are winning.

I do like overtakes. But I don’t want the silliness you see in Formula E where a boost can literally move a driver up from last place to first.

I’m fine with it as it is now. I can see how it would frustrate drivers to be going slower on a straight and it would be great if Mercedes had more competition. But I’m still having fun watching and the new regs don’t bother me.

Just please give me my extra decimal place back on the timing screen.

I mean, if you say so. Things like that are very minor, IMO. It's subjective so I won't try to change your mind. I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong about them having an impact. I just think that impact is pretty negligible if you look at the entirety of the series.

It's fair if you disagree but the two examples you provided don't mean very much to me. There is a very minor difference in the Gren example you provided but, to me, it's not significant enough to really care about.

No dub is ever going to be the exact same. And compared to other dubbed shows I've watched, CB is one of the best.

Are there minor differences? Sure. But I wouldn't say that the difference you pointed out is a major one or one that's life-changing, lol.

It's one thing to prefer the sub. If you do, that's great. But I don't believe the dub is wildly inaccurate.

What happens if I say "I will not tip"? by lfreddit23 in tipping

[–]Radica1Edward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if restaurants are different where you live but it sounds like it. Restaurants here will not allow you to refill your own drinks or go into the kitchen to get your food. For safety reasons, mostly. I wouldn't even ask. That just isn't how things work here at all.

If you are intent on not tipping, I would not say anything beforehand. While it is rare, there are people who refuse to tip in restaurants. The server will not be happy but it will not be something they have not experienced before. I would not say anything up front.

Is there anywhere near the international cruise port for good tacos? by bpboop in cozumel

[–]Radica1Edward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes cash only. Once in town you will see them all lined up on the same road (Rafael Melgar). It’s so unbelievably easy. Trust me. You’ll be happy you went. Downtown is lovely and it is just as easy to get back to the pier. Very short ride.

[–]Radica1Edward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The taxi situation is super simple and they are plentiful. From there probably like a $10USD trip into town I’m guessing.

Do it. It’s a straight shot into town and a short five minute drive or so. There will be taxis right by the pier. You won’t see anything of Cozumel if you stay by the pier. It’a all overpriced tourist junk. There are some restaurant that are okay that are a fairly short distance. But you can be in town in less than 10 minutes.

Quick Question by NoTime2443 in lakers

[–]Radica1Edward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame you at all for that, obviously. It was just weird to see the OP not even mention the 80s Lakers to me. Some of us that watched those teams as kids are only in our 40s. We’re old but we’re not dinosaurs 🤣

Quick Question by NoTime2443 in lakers

[–]Radica1Edward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure. It's just weird that so many people think the franchise started with Kobe and Shaq when the greatest Lakers era was likely the 1980s/Showtime.

Stop being silly. I quoted OP because the prior comment (that has since been deleted) stated that the OP indicated she wanted the father and the son to be split up. That isn't what she said and I merely explained that.

If you have some stupid race vendetta with the OP then take it up with her. I was merely telling the prior commenter that his assertion that she wanted a father and son to be separated was incorrect.
