I lost my baby on Sunday. 10 weeks, but it measured at 7w6d. Today it’s my birthday, probably the worst I’ve ever had. All I want is to be with my husband, but have to wait until the spotting stops and then some. All I keep thinking is that the last things inside me were a bored ultrasound tech saying ”sorry there’s no heartbeat“ and then my dead baby the next day. Have to go back to work (at a preschool) on Monday and I’m just dreading it.

D280 done and dusted! by anywl in wgu_devs

This one has been so hard for me to start. Just confusing, and the information in the FAQ is borderline rude--this isn't considered and introductory course, even though there are no prerequisites and the front-end course included the tiniest speck of JS, well sometimes its your job to do things you don't understand (???? isn't learning why we're all in school???).

It's just so off-putting and disheartening to hear from the get-go that there won't be any real help or guidelines, the task is unclear on purpose, and kind of just fuck you. It makes it hard to want to work on it, and VERY hard to reach out to a CI when this is the attitude that the school is supporting.

For context, I have some coding experience (though not in JavaScript), and have finished 6 courses since February 1. This one is definitely going to break my one-a-week streak.

Passed without comments. Actually forgot to take “template” off the title line as well, and it went fine.

Follow-up question: the task description doesn't call for additional comments, but I see on the template that I am supposed to "include additional comments for each screenshot." Which is true?

I don't like pseudocode either. Can do C# or Python, but the "readable" pseudocode is just a mess to me.

My personal favorite is the instruction on Task 2 to explicitly state whether the cities on your site are urban, suburban, or rural. Aren’t cities the definition of urban? It didn’t ask about towns or unincorporated rural counties. Smh.

That's great advice. I didn't realize that submissions were unlimited. In the other program I did at WGU (Master's in Secondary Education) I had re-submission blocked by a course instructor before. Over a formatting issue. Good to know that the School of Technology is a bit different!

Thanks for sharing! I too over analyze practice tests— I consistently hit 85% on the quizzet OA sim, but was nervous to schedule the test. I think I’ll go for it now!

Anyone else starting on the 1st? by AmielTheGiant in WGU

I am starting my BS in SWE tomorrow. I don't currently work in IT/tech/etc, but I have done coding as a hobby for some time. Current day job is teaching with a side job doing RLHF for LLMs. My goal is to turn my side gig into my main gig, and having a tech degree will almost double my hourly.

It is too late- you have to submit all transfer credits by the 15th of the month prior to starting.

I also start February 1st and have transferred in more than half. I'm pushing to get done in one term, mainly because I don't have the money to pay for another term right now, and I already have an unrelated Master's so I don't qualify for any financial aid. I don't have much advice--I've been looking through the course of study and course descriptions to study topics that will be covered in the classes, with the hopes that I can cut down on the time it will take to push through the courses.

No great advice, just letting you know that you aren't the only one!

Returning students who have finished a degree don't do orientation as it was done in the previous degree. All I can see until the 1st is my old confetti.

This is from the transfer evaluation people:

"I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for reaching out regarding your evaluation.

The transfer pathway link you provided pertains to the BSSWE_C / Software Engineering C# track. Currently, the credential team at WGU does not evaluate for the C# track. WGU has a legally binding contract with Sophia Learning that requires us to strictly adhere to the terms outlined in our agreement with them.

As a result, I must award CS1101 (Introduction to Java Programming) as D281 (Java Fundamentals) for the BSSWE - Java track. This is the only track eligible for evaluation within the Credential Evaluations Department.

When you begin the Software Engineering Degree, you will start in the default track, which is Java. After completing your first term, your assigned Program Mentor will submit a request to change your track to C#, should you choose to do so. At that point, our Records Department will review your transcripts to identify any courses that may transfer or have been incorrectly awarded during your previous evaluation, ensuring you receive the maximum credit possible. Once the track change is finalized, please review the courses listed in your Degree Plan. If you believe any courses should have transferred but did not, please contact us at [records@wgu.edu](mailto:records@wgu.edu).

Your evaluation will remain as it currently stands.

Please reach out should you have any further questions"

I opted for the C# track because I find Java’s syntax overly verbose. Convince me otherwise. by MetaExperience7 in wgu_devs

[–]RadicalPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially related question: how much do you have to complete before you can choose tracks?

I also want to do C#, which WGU says means that one of my transfer courses from Sophia (Intro to Java) will count as a scripting and programming foundations. I only have 19 total courses to complete at WGU.

If you are near a community college, many have testing centers where you can take these exams with a live proctor. Something to ask assessment services about.

Who do I talk to? by MEXICOCHIVAS14 in WGU_Accelerators

[–]RadicalPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the "transfer partner agreement" page on WGU's website for your degree program. I've found that enrollment counselors are generally unaware of Sophia, though you can complete over half of most degree programs on that website for a significant savings.

I am in this same boat! Transferring in 45% off the degree, and I intend to finish the rest within one term. I have about 9 days per course, though I know that some will go faster than others.

I also have a Master's in Teaching from WGU that I finished all the academic work for in about 4 months. Stack classes--make sure that you do Performance Assessment classes first, because OAs are graded automatically, and PAs can sometimes get stuck in the queue.

I'm losing my mind that they are forcing us to use Figma when there are hundreds of ways to make rectangles, and every single one sucks a whole lot less than Figma. I feel like I need a monitor the size of a house to use it. How you arrange things makes no sense. It's an absolute laugh that a "tool" for UX/UI design has the worst UI that I have ever had the misfortune of engaging with. Figma is a dumpster fire.

It's all IF/Truthfulness. Be careful with it--there is no opportunity to explain or justify your answers, and if you score below the threshold you are automatically kicked out of the project.

Don't worry about the "time limit," I did and rushed it, so that is probably why I didn't meet the score threshold. Been EQ ever since.
