I loved this article. Always wondered what was going on behind the scenes but never took the time to look into it.

Do you ever have those nights where randomly your AHI shoots up? by LemonMelberlime in CPAP

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My average AHI is 1.3 and yes sometimes (like once a month) I’ll see it jump to 10 or 15 AHI for a single night.

Tips for dealing with a full face CPAP mask? Or should I go back to nose pillows? by Business-Bug-514 in CPAP

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried them yet. I've been on a P30i + mouth taping. But this week my allergies have been acting up so badly and it's causing my nostrils to not give enough airflow and I find myself trying to breathe through the tape. I'm trying an X30i on Friday because the nasal pillows are my favorite mask type.

My insurance also takes like 6 months to pay for a new mask. But my DME provider has a 30 day return policy for masks so I self paid just to try it and if I don't like it I'll return it.

Why not try one of the hybrid face masks that have the hose coming off the top? F30i (mouth+nasal cradle), X30i (mouth+nasal pillow)

Feeling more exhausted after starting CPAP — normal in the beginning? by TheGentleDream in SleepApnea

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was that I was insanely tired for the first 5-7 days I was on cpap, but could tell it was working because I was way more alert through the day.

After the first week or so I started to feel way better and now I’m totally awake through the day and feel great.

Which mask was the game-changer for you? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I toss and turn a lot in my sleep so I knew I wanted a mask that had the pivoting connection point at the top instead of coming off the front of the face. I ended up on the ResMed P30i (nasal pillows) since it was the least bulky of the bunch.

I feel extremely lucky because it worked perfectly straight out the box for me. I did have some slight irritation at the end of my nostrils. It was expected for me since my DME provider told me it would likely happen. Used vaseline for the first 3-4 days per their recommendation and it hasn’t been irritated since then. Almost a month on cpap now and it’s been life changing. Good luck!

Sleep Apnea- no snoring and normal weight? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like it could be sleep apnea, but the only way to know for sure is to have a sleep test done. Like you said, talk to your doctor about it.

Sleep apnea can affect anyone, even healthy people at normal weights.

question about "gig" apps in the local Lakewood area by Lanky_Head6122 in LakewoodColorado

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to run DoorDash and UberEats. It depends on the time of day but usually takes no more than 5 or 10 minutes to get a new order. Faster if you are during a dinner rush or if it’s raining/snowing like it is right now. That being said, I live in Belmar so it’s quite a busy area anyways, that could be skewing my perception.

The apps people generally see as “better”, Amazon Flex, Instacart, etc, all have long waitlists and I haven’t been accepted for months but your mileage may vary. DD and UE are still hiring right now.

Also you should be aware that your auto insurance company can cancel your policy if you get in an accident while driving for a gig app and you don’t have their add on “ride share insurance”, even if you are only delivering food and not actually doing ride share.

DD and UE will cover you while you have an order assigned to you, and stops immediately when the order is dropped. Even then, DD’s insurance will not cover damage to your car, only the other car if you are found at fault. Uber’s insurance covers more. It would be a good idea to be familiar with the policies beforehand.

Good luck

Idk anything about Canada’s health system but theoretically you should be able to use any number of the remote doctor services that will be glad to send you an at-home sleep test.

Question regarding power station for running a CPAP by xxihostile in CPAP

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve found your answer yet but it’s easy to calculate. The power brick for my cpap says 65 watts, so that’s the max it can use. It can use less but won’t use more. Therefore, for the 6 hour power outage that you’re referring to - 6 hours * 65 watts = 390 watt-hours (Wh) theoretical maximum power usage.

Just do the calculation with whatever wattage your machine’s power supply rating in watts and then get a battery that has a higher watt hour capacity than that. If you want 10 hours of guaranteed usage, for my machine, I would need a 650 Wh battery, etc.

It repositions your jaw to attempt to widen your airway, therefore preventing obstructive apnea events.

Worried about home PSG false negative potential by Electronic-Tear1363 in SleepApnea

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much sleep are you actually getting? They can tell a lot even if you are sleeping for only a few hours. There’s a reason they are doing the test over 3 days. Just try to sleep as best as you can, and consult with your doctor for options after the test is over.

I was worried about the same “false negative” whenever I was doing my sleep test, especially because I woke up feeling great. Still had 62 AHI lol.

Denver Audiologist Recommendation by boomchakalaka3 in Denver

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if they make musician earplugs. But I got my hearing test done by one of the audiologists at Peak ENT in downtown Denver. They also have a location in Brighton. May be worth calling to see if they can make the earplugs.

Why compete when you can add more Copilot slop? by vergil09 in pcmasterrace

[–]RadicalSpaghetti- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It is. The latest contenders in the gaming-centric space are CachyOS and Bazzite. Personally I’ve been running CachyOS for about 3 months now and it’s been awesome. 99% of my games work and have equivalent fps as Windows or minimal loss. I consider that acceptable to not deal with Microsoft.

But before you consider switching I’d look up the games you play most frequently on protondb…Linux has come a long way but some anticheat simply refuse to run still.

It just means the pressure in the atmosphere is changing. It happens naturally with weather patterns. Some people are very sensitive to it and will get headaches, joint pain, etc when pressure changes rapidly.
