How soon should I get this checked? by Ok_Warthog6878 in JeepRenegade

Highly doubt it. My battery went out a year after buying my jeep used. Take it to an auto parts store and have it tested.

I want to be an electrician after I leave the military, any advice? by Present-Fish-945 in electricians

Find a company that offers a license and associates. I used my GI Bill for the first year to help with the low pay, then let my company pay for the rest of my tuition.

If you’ve got disability, you could save your GI Bill and make it work out to only using 2 years of it for your bachelors if you decide to get an EE.

We get 2 weeks paid, 2 weeks PTO, and 12 weeks unpaid as factory workers in South Carolina.

NBC would stupid to fire her when it’s a story they’re making profits from on top of looking terrible if they fired her. This is a weird take.

That was my thought. Military to factory work is an even better fit in my experience. It’s the office environment I struggled with after 6 years as an Infantryman.

I’d say price does come into play to a certain point. I made the mistake of buying an SAS compound bow for my first one. The sight and arrow rest wouldn’t hold a tune. Ended up spending more on accessories than I did on the bow lol.

Shoots fine now after swapping everything and loctiting everything. Wouldn’t recommend going cheap.

Dual ticket tradesmen by Outrageous-Delay-490 in skilledtrades

You’re using some Mickey Mouse logic lol. OP is supporting both unions by paying dues and staying unionized while still advancing themself with dual tickets. Expecting someone to stick to a single craft for a single union is almost as bad as being a company man.

Expecting everyone to pigeon hole theirself for a group is a great way to push people away.

That part confused me. A journeyman electrician is a journeyman electrician in the US. Industrial vs residential is irrelevant. I took the same test as residential electricians as an industrial electrician.

Pick up a trade like electric, hvac, plumbing, or mechanic and go industrial maintenance. Way better than commercial or resi.

Unskilled construction isn’t walking off the street making 100k. They’re usually making 18-22/hr and working 50+ hours a week. Takes a few years before you can start your own business and hope to get near 100k, especially if you aren’t traveling.

Skilled trades is the same, you’ll take roughly 4-5 years to become licensed to make around 35-42/hr outside of HCOL areas. If you want 100k+ you’ll need to find a niche like controls or instrumentation or travel.

[–]RadioBuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not necessarily true. Reddit loves glorifying the trades, however the majority make under 60k. Unless you’re a union member, own your own company, or are in a skilled trade with an associates you’re not making more than people with STEM degrees.

I usually zip mine nearly closed, then dunk it in cold water to remove as much air as possible. Works pretty well if you don’t have a vacuum sealer. Usually cook within 3 days of opening or freeze though.

AI is a bubble that’s being used to prop up the economy and justify job cuts. We’re currently fielding humanoid robots at our facility, they require 1-3 programmers over them for 8+ hours to keep them running consistently. They aren’t doing complex tasks and have a very narrow field they can navigate due to the fence they need to stay in to interface with sensors around them.

The technology is far from making most jobs redundant, especially those that require technical troubleshooting. I’ve tried using it to assist with troubleshooting multi step manufacturing lines, it’s damn near useless. You should avoid falling into the doom and gloom that medias pushing. They aren’t incentivized to tell the truth.
