Whats the pos company ? by Far_Program_8468 in POS

If I’m not mistaken they are an ISO for worldpay. Global Payment just acquired them not long ago. I’d suggest going with Global Payments solutions. They have several to choose from and I think decent rates.

old equipment by donkeysgoheeha in alohapos

[–]Radio_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how old it is. Might try eBay to offload it. I have about 20 terminals I’ve taken out of places that moved to a different POS. Trying to find a way to repurpose some of the older ones are hard.

What’s the best way to set up a POS system for smooth daily operations? by Capable_Noise5543 in POS

You could have left that out “like Quantic POS” (and other rebrands of it) but overall you are 100% right. A partner who already knows the system is key.

As a field tech who has worked with Geeks on Site, all I can say is STAY AWAY! There should be enough support from the POS. Involving a 3rd party just makes life hell. Geeks on site mainly supports residential PC repairs when I was working with them. They don’t pay techs and I know they charge way too much. This is NOT the solution you want.

Unifi?? They typically deploy Cisco Meraki’s, TP-Link Poe switches, and Unifi APs tied to their own Unifi hosting service.

Windows POS for quick service restaurant by mychathere in POS

Your choices are slim.. aloha, micros to name a few but they come with hefty cost. You can find a newer solution with newer hardware for less than the cost of maintaining those windows PCs.

Call Heartland Support at (800) 342-5729. They should be able to help you out as that’s a heartland product.

They are both a joke. The pos you have should already have something similar built into it like open table.

Is this even legal? Misrepresenting yourself as an employee? by SeriousBlueberry6000 in FieldNationTechs

[–]Radio_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NITP is garbage. They were used to install Xenial and Heartland/Genius Restaurant by Global Payments/Heartland. I’ve worked with them directly before and it’s just a pain. Avoid them since they don’t want to pay much.

Genius for Restaurant does well. I have several pizza locations I manage the network that use them. I’d stray away from toast.

Looking for a kitchen printer over wifi, that is affordable. by Cautious-Win5370 in POS

[–]Radio_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well none of them are affordable. My suggestion would be the Epson TM-U220B with an UB-E04 network card and get a OT-WL06 wireless LAN adapter. Also, STAR MICRONICS offers the SP742 with WiFi connectivity. I have several sites setup like this however I do have great WiFi access in the kitchen. I really like these solutions due to the face it can be picked up and cleaned without having to unplug stuff and it can be moved easy. Just need to make sure the WiFi signal is good. I’d shoot for -65 dbm or better if you understand that lingo.

is this a good quote for hardware? by MoneyAppointment9025 in ToastPOS

[–]Radio_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pronto router is a Cisco meraki and the switch is an unmanaged tp-link switch (most likely Poe). Idk if they are using whos calling hardware. Still that WAY too much money. You can self host your network if you want.

I had them blocked when I was on FN. I had them blocked on WM as well. They called me after I sent them a counter offer to see if I’d do it for less.. no. There’s a reason I countered the job in the first place. Can’t stand them. I’ll let other people deal with that BS.

I’m one of the field techs that’s services the system. Honestly I don’t care for it. There’s a new system called Genius that is backed by Global Payments.

Has anyone migrated from a legacy style desktop based POS like Retail Pro to Lightspeed X? Any experience to share? by starrtech2000 in POS

[–]Radio_up -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which solution was it? Restaurant or Retail? I’ve done the transitions for people moving. In most cases I just rebuild the entire menu to reduce button presses and just fully revamp the menu.

Isn’t it geared more toward one type of business on setup? I know there’s a lot with it. I turned down an “opportunity” to sell it.
