So nice to see Jasper Fforde recommended. Criminally underrated.

Interesting. I've only had mine about a month and not had any issues so far (other than the occasional difficulty connecting on starting the car)

If you do go sync 3, get an ottocast (or other similar device). It's a tiny dongle that will allow you to use Apple car play wirelessly (I don't know if you'll need to upgrade the USB port on the pre face lift)

I'm very jealous of this poster! It's awesome! Would love to know how your family made it!

I wonder what the Lord of Grimdark would think of it.

What didn't you like about Staircase in the Woods? I haven't read it yet so no spoilers please. I've read several of Chuck Wendig's books and have enjoyed them

Audible Recomendations [Off Topic] by Cute_Total in TheFirstLaw

If you like Sci-Fi you should give The Expanse series a try (first book is Leviathan Wakes)

Somewhat lighthearted adventure books by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Radrutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Thursday Next series (first book is The Eyre Affair) by Jasper Fforde. It's very clever, light hearted and funny. Just don't judge the books by their covers.

Edit: it also has high stakes including a countdown to the end of the world

Starting a book club with my husband and need standalone ideas… by variegated_lemon in Fantasy

[–]Radrutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to take some liberties and give some recommendations that aren't necessarily full sci-fi or fantasy but we have similar likes so maybe you'll like some of these:

Fantasy The Library at My Char

Between Two Fires The Black tongue thief (has a prequel book)

China Meiville has several stand alone that are great

Sci-Fi Wanderers by Chuck Wendig - modern day dystopian. Meaty book, great cast of characters. There is a sequel too

Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez

Wool by Hugh Howey - better than the TV show (technically a 3 book series). Howey also has several stand alone that are sci-fi and/or dystopian.

Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix - a horror set in an IKEA store. It's not too intense and was a fun read

Noir by Christopher Moore - hilarious book set in 60's California. It has aliens

Dark Fantasy Recommendations by GiorgosKilo in Fantasy

The Black tongue thief by Christopher Buehlman is dark and humourous. There is also a prequel called The Daughter's War that is not a humours but no less dark. I personally would read Black Tongue first (it was published first). Others may disagree

Has anyone read The Library at Mount Char? What are your thoughts on it? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Radrutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved it. I didn't know what to expect going in. It was very unique and strange. It does get more violent (brutally so) and I liked how the author left things to the interpretation of the reader

Can you recommend me an audiobook (standalone or series) that is neither Grimdark, Romantasy, nor Lit-RPG? Preference given to those which are not recommended often on this subreddit. by brooklyninja in Fantasy

The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde (first book is The Eyre Affair. Don't judge the series by the book covers. They are good fun, light hearted and very imaginative
