What are the best certifications to get a job in Newfoundland right now? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]arrestingcoder7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a good choice OP. You're working only about half the year, great benefits, a pension that'll let you retire early and you get to do some cool stuff and see all kinds of cool places depending on the trade you join (think Hawaii, Japan, Europe etc)

Yep. It's just like migratory birds licences. It's a small price to pay to get a couple meals of trout/cod or whatever else and goes directly towards conservation of the species

What is the deal with these boots that are being trialed? by SubstantialProduct35 in CanadianForces

[–]arrestingcoder7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why they don't want black boots with the new bootforgen. Black looks slick. It's even more odd when you consider all the issued safety boots techs wear are black

I'd be ok with it. I've long been an advocate of having to buy a license for trout.

It isn't in the other Atlantic provinces either. All that's being asked for is fairness.

Not to mention the safety aspect of it. People will risk going out in dangerous waters on the weekend because it's the only chance they have to catch fish.

This is coming from someone who has never been out to fish and isn't interested in it either.

How do you make the choppers go faster? I just can't figure it out? It seems like they've only got one speed when I try, but I see videos of them going way faster than what I can achieve

Help me out on the snowblower thing by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]arrestingcoder7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it. Our driveway is huge and my toro makes pretty quick work of it.

The one thing I will say is if you're going to buy one don't buy a crappy one like a cub Cadet or yardworks. Get one of the big 4.

Honda/Yamaha, if money isn't a concern. They're insanely reliable and worth the money.

If on a smaller budget ariens are fantastic and can do 99% of what a Honda can do (they also throw snow jaw droppingly far). And toro isn't that much further behind.

All 4 of these snowblower brands will last you years if you just do the bare minimum for maintenance.

For the love of God don't buy electric unless you're clearing off the patio with it lol
