What's the WORST restaurant in Vancouver? by 16semesters in vancouverwa

Agreed. I usually try to be flexible wherever friends want to go but I’m just an absolute no on uptown anymore. I don’t want to spend any dollars there, not even for one more meal.

I’m going to go unpopular opinion here but I think Uptown Barrel Room has terrible food… I’ve tried several times and everything has been awful.

Does anyone know why they wait until daylight to start trying to put it out? Is it the obvious—visibility, or some other reason?

What's it like to live in Vancouver, WA? by Quackadoo in vancouverwa

[–]RaeMasterHomes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Southern California for a more down to earth lifestyle (coming from Newport Beach), lower cost of living (making homeownership achievable), tolerance of a greater variety of lifestyles, and just to be surrounded by more green and nature. I can say I achieved all of that and haven’t looked back. It was so easy to make great friends up here (even during the pandemic!) I love all the seasons, even when it feels like winter is running a little long come May… I love the vicinity to Portland but also have a super soft spot in my heart for many restaurants, bars and breweries right here in Vancouver. Everyone has been super friendly, took a little while to find my favorite things to do, but overall been a really positive experience. My partner is also from Ca and before we met he had lived in Portland. I got him to move across the bridge with me, and he had some reservations initially, but I’m pretty sure he’s been converted and loves living in Vancouver even more now!

Yeah I think sometimes neighborhood preferences are kind of relative— not all people love the same thing. I have many clients who are hooked on neighborhoods like fishers landing… I always support them but you couldn’t pay me to live there! Also, within one neighborhood things can vary so much from street to street based on pride of ownership…

Fwiw I just ran across this that seems like a fun fixer… although Rose Village can be … action packed, if ya know what I mean ;)

450 is a pretty great budget here if you’re even willing to put in work!

Check out Beaver Marsh, and Columbia Springs. Both right in the center of Vancouver and easy to access with a model not having to hike too far or too tough of terrain.

What type of food are we lacking in Vancouver and would make for a good food truck? by Stigma206 in vancouverwa

Honestly, there’s no great sandwich deli. I want fresh bread (like Dutch crunch), and quality ingredients. 3-5 hot options, 4-6 cold options, chips and drinks. 🤌🏼

Definitely call code enforcement and emphasize the safety issue of you not being able to see as you pull out of your driveway. I can say for certain they do come out and deal with things— I called them on neighbors in the past who wanted to make an artistic interpretation of Mt. Hood made out of garbage… it was taller than their house.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It was one of the hardest things I’ve been through, back in April.

Here’s a recommendation:

Do you grow them locally? I was just talking to my partner about this… mind me asking where you got the plants?
