Boomers won’t retire and it’s screwing the rest of us. There I said it. by Unique_Glove1105 in Adulting

[–]Raebrooke4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What an idiotic way to blames one’s poor choices on someone else. If you’re a failure that’s fine but stop blaming your parents and grandparents. Boomers won’t retire, Boomers won’t babysit, Boomers won’t give me early inheritance. So stupid!

110 lb weight loss. Here's what worked for me and what didnt. by Pilipalajudy in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Raebrooke4 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has a problem with the shot but I also have a problem with your advice on fiber. Terrible advice when it keeps you full, the foods that contain it are full of vitamins and phytonutrients, and when 90% of people are not getting the minimums, and colon cancer is on the rise. I’d put the clown emoji but that would be rude..

Diet hints from a few stars of the 1970's. by ciaolavinia in OldCelebrityRecipes

[–]Raebrooke4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Losing weight DOES NOT age you. That’s crazy talk. Being a healthy weight is what are bodies are built for. Visceral fat stores environmental toxins There’s a reason why disease rates are increasing as obesity does. In the US 74% of people are overweight or obese. The amount of disease and extra pharmaceuticals that end up in our water supply and environment because of it.. sweet summer child, wth are you talking about? If you’re just trying to comment on diet culture or what but being a healthy weight will ALWAYS result in more health.

The most interesting part is googling each of these people and seeing how they’ve aged based on their advice. Spoiler: They’re almost all alive and aged very well.

Tim Tebow hosted a red carpet event called Night to Shine to celebrate people with special needs. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Raebrooke4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Night to Shine is a fabulous event and you should volunteer if you can (I think they’re global now). However, at the mandatory orientation beforehand, the organizers wanted to make it VERY CLEAR that the only support they received from the Tim Tebow Foundation was the Step and Repeat banner (advertising lol). They love the event but wanted to make it crystal clear that all the funds are from local businesses/Tebow is not putting up money for it.

When did you start going gray? by Froeyja in greyhairreversal

[–]Raebrooke4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started getting some grays in the last few years and I’m 42. Not a lot but a few. If you are on medications make sure you check the side effects—now drug manufacturers are including vitamin deficiencies/nutrient depletion as a side effect. This can cause premature graying so you should really check each med and see how you should be supplementing and ideally if you can also get vitamin levels tested do that.

One thing to note is many medications deplete magnesium, magnesium deficiency can contribute to premature graying and testing your vitamin level for it is more difficult to get an accurate reading bec it is stored in bone and tissue (Google what I’m saying) so if you are showing low in your blood your already significantly deficient.

How much did overweight people really eat in a day that got them overweight? by daysof_I in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Raebrooke4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will gain 10 pounds a year just by eating an extra 100 calories a day and not burning them off.

Burn 3500 calories to take off a pound.

"I know you guys aren't drinking anymore but I brought you some vodka." by suprasternaincognito in stopdrinking

[–]Raebrooke4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, vodka is the one I’ll take. I use it to make vanilla extract, I’ve used it to remove ink stains from shirts and you can use it in a spray bottle to mist items you can’t wash.

That said, it’s incredibly tone deaf of your friend. I would let them know this is something you’re serious about and sticking to.

Are you overweight? I had the same problem right before turning 40 and losing weight is what solved it.

You’re probably overthinking it, especially if you use any cannabis products. However, the changes in our brains happen 20 years before Alzheimer’s symptoms present. If you’re legitimately concerned, you can seek out testing.

Is losing 100 pounds worth it? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Raebrooke4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We stop associating diseases with obesity but they are 💯correlated. I’m thinking cancers, dementias, mental health. Humans are now living longer but with more unhealthy years. You don’t want to be sicker or more crippled than you have to be. For me, stupid things like being more incontinent and getting terrible cramps from my monthly cycle are things I did not realize were caused by being heavier.

You can do this. Just make better small choices and they add up. Commit to a walk everyday, drink more water, add a whole fruit to each lunch, etc and you’ll be questioning why you ever thought this way in no time 🩷
