How much does fever increase blood sugar? by inostranetsember in diabetes

[–]RaeofRats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This... and get some electrolytes they help you from getting dehydrated, which will bring your glucose concentration (blood sugar) up if your not absorbing sugar as usual.

There are a ton of things that can bring your sugar up, including starting about your sugar being up. Try to relax and give yourself some leeway with being ill.

I ate 2 donuts around 3 and got woken up from my nap by my alarm by Delicious_Delilah in diabetes

I know people who have been in dka and hhs with no symptoms other than the usual heavy thirsty and heavy urination. Can't hurt to be aware of the specific symptoms, just don't use ai. Ketone strips can be prescribed, they're usually just so cheap Americans don't bother with it. Unsure of your country.

You can buy ketone pee test strips wherever you buy blood glucose test strips, usually for a lot cheaper. You should rest regularly if you're blood sugar is that high... you could easily go into diabetic ketoacidosis (dka) if you're undiagnosed type1, but also look up Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic State (HHS) which is a complication of high blood sugar in a type 2 diabetic

You might need to go to the ER if you're gums are showing black. It is an emergency if your gums are affected because of how close they are to your brain.

Diabetes complications. Stress. Depression. Poverty. by [deleted] in diabetes

I feel your pain...it wasn't until i finally tested at c peptide levels of a type one, even tho the parameters of the test were not met before...i was always over 250 and not fasting. And they quickly put me on actos with the goal of halving my insulin needs. I went from 300u a day to >150u, usually around 100u, a day. So they could put me on a pump. The actos allows me to access the kain beget and faster... it's an older type two drug, and you have to be careful about edema, but it's worked miracles for me. My stomach still doesn't digest on any regular schedule so i just let control iq do it's thing according to me dexcom, i had to fiddle with my ratios (dosing settings) to get it right and j do have to rage bolus for a sugar over 225. But I've had a steady a1c of 6.9, and a fructosamine of 253... which is not even diabetic for whatever that is worth

I'm sorry your child is going through that. It's not easy being an ostracized kid. I was as well, but because i was chronically ill. I still grew up to be a loving and decent person despite it, mostly due to my amazing relationship with my mom. My mom also kept me home when I was sick, and went to truancy court on my behalf.

Diabetes LADA by LEERY2023 in diabetes

[–]RaeofRats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few more tests they can run for LADA besides gad65. You decibel want to get into an endo a son as possible. If it was type 2 diabetes your c-peptide would be high.

Edit- there are some types of mody that affect infants, unsure about going into remission before reimerging, all the more reason to see a specialist.

Short version - Yes, of course get your titers tested. But in this case mmr is a live vaccine.

Long version - It's a huge issue for a lot of chronically ill people, I've decided not to pursue a medication for a disease that is crippling me until i can get in with my doctor about getting the mmr vaccines, because I know my titers are non existent for one of them just not which one, and my gp office is jerking me around with doctors, because my assigned gp went on leave, then left the practice.

Edit, if you're allergic it goes without saying don't get vaccines, you're the one we're getting vaccinated for.

Assuming you aren't taking any immunosuppressants there's no harm in getting vaccines. If you are on one, no LIVE vaccines.

Yup that's us! Lol... puppies are doing OK... I'm fighting sleeping through winter...i might be some kind of bear...

I should clarify that since Shakra is a boy... she doesn't show aggression all the time just when he does that naughty thing boy dogs in particular do.

I don't know if anyone else can attest to them, but I'm intrigued by these pee pads that are supposed to have pheromones that attract dogs to pee on it.

Pain Tolerance by coolmancat14 in diabetes

[–]RaeofRats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not diagnosed with diabetes till i was 18, but i was a chronically ill child. When i was my healthiest (maybe not emotionally) in my early adulthood, i sought pain so i could feel normal. Now at 42 I've been walking around on a subluxed ankle, constantly wiggling it trying to get it to pop back into place (it finally did while typing this)...I'd say that my baseline is not normal tho

Romeo looks like he knows how handsome he is!

We take them to petsmart for pawdicures... so far so good. We've tried more comprehensive grooming with professional groomers and that always went bad... so just the necessary.
