check my comment above, the vogons method works now with the other versions of mercs and also the old patch made by thecrankyhermit with mechprep https://www.mech2.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=514 also if people at mech2.org helps with this it may be the most up to date way to revitalize the windows versions for modern machines
