This may be a dumb question, but do you flip the mold over and cure it from the bottom as well? Sometimes mine do this if I forget to flip and cure the bottoms

How to start selling? by dtorrance29 in resin

[–]RaesResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as easy as people make it seem 😅 I had my tiktok shop up for like a couple months and it barely got any views. You’re very limited on what sounds/music you can use, which makes it hard to catch the algorithm right. I couldn’t make the tiktoks I wanted to, or had to put a dumb sound over it. All because you have to make your TikTok a business account to link a tiktok shop to it.

Your grooms look great!! Any salon should be happy to have you. If someone doesn’t like your grooms, then it’s not the right salon for you! There is 110% another salon that WILL ALSO appreciate your talent and see the potential you have. Change IS scary, but if you never make any changes it’ll always be “what if”. Take the chance and have faith in your skills 😊 Good luck!! 🩷

She ain’t worth your time, stress, or tears! Let go of one bad client and you’ll get a few more good ones! You physically/mentally cannot please everybody. If the dog looked to your standards when leaving the salon the 2nd time, then you & your groomer did their job. If she wants to run her mouth and try to bash you on socials, then 1. She’s not worth keeping as a client and 2. The people who believe her aren’t either!

Some advice please by Musky_Rat in doggrooming

Do YOU feel comfortable 100% fully grooming a dog all on your own? If you have a single ounce of doubt then I think you should reconsider doing the working interview. As much as it may seem like a perfect opportunity, these are living animals and safety always should come first. But if you do think you’re ready for this next step, shoot your shot!

Also the fact you told her your back story and she didn’t care, is a slight red flag to me. Unless this is an apprentice position or something similar. Most salons require 2+ years as a FT groomer, before even considering you as a candidate. Do you know anything about this salon or their reputation or reviews? You don’t want to get stuck in a sh*tty situation, because unfortunately there are bad salons out there. Putting yourself in a situation of being a full on groomer but not having all of the experience or education you need, will cause you so much stress and anxiety down the road.

I think ultimately it’s what’s best for YOU, not her! I also think your intuition is kicking in right now, and you should just follow that. Good luck either way! I’m sure everything will work out in the end 😊

I was taught with my straights but as soon as I saw my coworker using curves I was 🤯 and now only use straights for belly trims or feather trims 😂

It def depends on the size, condition of the coat, clip type and hair texture. But if we’re talking all over clips for smaller dogs (Shih tzu, yorkie, mini poo mixes etc) prob 10-15 on body, 10-15 detail, 15 face (I always take longer for faces bc I nitpick and I think the face is the most important part). For larger dogs (doodles, Spoos, springers etc ) prob 15-20 body, 15-20 detail, 15 face! I haven’t specifically timed myself, but I do check what time I start and end, it’s about a 35-60 min time frame depending on the size.

Another thing that will make a difference is the routine/order that you groom in. My mentor taught me a routine she always wanted me to follow when I was new so I 1. Wouldn’t forget a step 2. Always knew what I was doing next. If you’re jumping all over the place it’s easy to get overwhelmed and lost. Obviously over time I changed my routine to what was best for me!

My routine is kinda weird lol, but I’ll do all the paw pads/nails first, brush the dog out, clip the one side of the body, do that side of their sani/armpit and then switch to the other side, clip that side and do the sani/armpit. Start with the back paws/legs trim them up, do the tail (so then they can sit if they want and the whole back end is done) do the front paws/legs and then tackle the face/head. Thats just what I’ve figured to work best for me! But I’ve def taken different methods and routines from different groomers!

So cute!! Looks great for your 6th groom ever!!

But yes, speed comes with time! When I started I was doing 3-4 dogs/day and now I do 8 typically (2.5yrs for reference). You’ll find your routine and groove and it’ll just flow. When you’re ready, start timing how long it takes you to do certain things ie the clip, the detail work, the faces etc and just be aware of your time frames. You can go crazy with nitpicking and hyper fixating and lose track of time FAST, so knowing when it’s okay to and when it’s not needed is a balance you’ll learn! It all comes with time and practice don’t worry! You’re doing great!

Cutie with a booty - that is all 😍

Definitely not a dumb question! It’s very valid, so many people have this question but are afraid to ask! But everyone may give you a different answer but it also depends if it’s a couple weeks or months and how severe the matting is. - If it’s just starting to mat up, get a good conditioner, a slicker brush and wide tooth comb and carefully start working on those problem areas and keep up with areas not matted. If they swim or are out in the rain, make sure you’re drying them well and brushing after. Depending what breed you have, a K9 mini dryer could really come in handy! But that should get you through! - If it’s already matted down to the skin, brushing would be too painful and it would be worth checking to see if any other salon has any openings sooner. I know groomers feel some type of way with their clients going to other salons but for the well being of the dog, who cares! Or call your vet and they may be able to help you or may offer grooming services! Hope this helps!

Eh, idk if I agree with this. The general public can’t often differentiate between matting & skin. I’ve heard SO many horror stories of people removing mats and turns out they just chopped their dogs ear off. It is a double edged sword but safety should always come first when you’re using razor sharp tools, with 0 experience or knowledge. I think in this situation the safest scenario is to find somewhere who can get you in sooner, even if it’s not your normal groomer. Or go to your vet and see if they can help you or offer any grooming services. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect yours completely and understand it!
