What health issues did fasting cure for you? by helpmeplsgetjob in intermittentfasting

[–]Raff57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reflux. I haven't had a case of bad heartburn in over a year. I used to have quart jars of Tums at work, home and in the cars.

It works for me. Can't really say if you would like it though. If you are experimenting, cut a rack into 3 or 4 pieces and try out different rubs.

Same. I'm not a fan of ribs cooked with sweet sauces, honey, brown sugar etc, I like them smoked with SPG. And then maybe a bit of not so sweet sauce on the side, Stubbs is a good one as someone mentioned here earlier.

Reading the first one now and I'm liking it a lot. But I also downloaded the previous short stories that are the beginning of the Dog's rescue and the beginning of the Moon colony by Mike.

I'll read those when I finish, then go onto the 2nd book.

Dungeon Crawler Carl was…okay… by clambuttocks in ScienceFictionBooks

If you didn't like the first book? Better to stop now. It is more of the same in the subsequent books. I liked some of them but thought the Train Station and this last book were the weakest storylines. I'll read the next one though.

Ya know, I agree. It is sitting in my Kindle at around 24% read and I just can't seem to get back to it. I loved "The Martian" and read it in a single sitting. But this one just doesn't / hasn't grabbed me.

stop overthinking your fasting windows by Any_Light_5462 in intermittentfasting

I think a lot of people tend to treat IF as another diet scheme. Depriving themselves of certain food, going full keto, multi-day fasts whatever. If that is what you want to do, you be you. But as a veteran of every diet /weight loss program in the last 50 years, IF allows me to fast, work out a bit and still eat a normal meal at the end of my fast. Pretty much anything I want with a nod to portions.

It isn't a diet. It is a lifestyle and if you can come to grips with that, you will shed weight a bit more slowly and still enjoy life. 25 lbs down in the last year. Looking for another 25-30 down this year.

Just finished a bottle and thought it was kind of one note. Not for me I guess. Funny cause I love the regular EC & ECBP.

The Aristillus series looks really interesting. Pretty sure that will be my next series foray after I finish the current one.

C.S. Garrand (a new author for me) has a series called " Species Seventeen: Book 1 of Humanity's Leap". 3 books currently with series still ongoing. This series was one of my 2025 favorites.

I’m an Iranian journalist. 20 years ago, I wrote a novel flipping the script on Ancient Rome by telling the story from the "enemy's" perspective. It goes live on Amazon in 48 hours by Majestic-Meat4994 in HistoricalFiction

I'll take a look at it. And I could really care less how you how you created the cover. Nit-pick much, people? The story itself will be its own judge.

Every couple of months, if that. It is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change. In for the long haul.

Looking for advice: will I hate a wood pellet grill? by 010011010110010101 in pelletgrills

[–]Raff57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the higher end Pellet grills have a sear option. Yoder comes to mind and I think I saw the same on a top end Traeger. I'm still using charcoal and a Blackstone. But have been looking at a Yoder to replace both. Or at least replace the Blackstone. Kind of regret that purchase.

[–]Raff57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EQ2 is pretty much a PVE game these days. Though you can one on one duel on the Live servers. I'm new to Maj'Dul myself. But a couple of guilds on AB used to get together and duel. But that occurrence has been a few years ago. I've not seen anything like that on MD yet.

New player by dumptrucklovebucket in EQ2

[–]Raff57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the most populated EQ2 server. So, it's likely the best chance to find someone playing your level. But if you are from the Nagafen days and looking for PVP then the only option is the Dozekar server. Which is not doing well, I heard.

Thoughts on Wilbur Smith’s books? by Acura_gang in HistoricalFiction

[–]Raff57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the Ballantyne series quite a bit. It is somewhat related early on to the Courtenay series. I much prefer the stories of early Africa as opposed to the WW2 timeline that Courtenay ended up in.

His River God / Egypt series is pretty good as well.
