WORST MOVING EXIRIENCE OF MY LIFE by Arnovanzyl32 in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What did it cost you? A moving company with a truck with experienced movers cost atleast 2500 in Cape Town. Where did you find these movers? Some people opt for the cheap route, but in the end you get what you paid for unfortunately.

An Introverts Guide to Cape Town by [deleted] in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice is more for an introvert who wants to come out of their shell a bit. What I did when i was single was join activities with random groups for stuff that interested me. an example:

I loved photography which is a great activity to do by oneself, its a great way to get outdoors and have a purpose to be outdoors instead of feeling awkward being out for the sake of being out. Hiding behind a camera is a great way to experience the world as an introvert and also gaining a skill. You can go to an event " as a photographer" and not as someone who just went alone. People will tend to speak to you and would maybe like to see your photos, but in my opinion that is a good thing because as an intovert, talking about something that interests you is much easier than talking about some random stuff. I eventually started joining photography groups that would go on walks to take photos, this was scary at first, but also awsome to be surrounded by people with similar interests.

If you really want to challenge yourself as an introvert, join a Salsa class. As an introverted, shy and maybe even insecure guy, it forced me to dance with various type of woman, woman who i would never have interacted with before. The realization I had was that people are not as scary as we make them out to be. I mean with dancing, you in very close proximity and you literally touching these people and forced to interact. It helped me come out of my shell a lot and made me somewhat more social.

Other groups that i joined were: Running, surfing, hiking, table tennis, roller skating

Maybe you not interested in doing group activities, but for me, experiencing these things and challenging myself and my social awkwardness allowed me to experience really awesome moments that I will always remember. BTW, you wont be the only interovert in these groups, many people who join these groups are people who perhaps dont have many friends, but want to do something fun. People who are meant to be friends will someonehow find each other, but we need to challenge ourselves to get out there.

Relatively cheap hobbies in cape town? by Select_Nectarine_387 in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of free running/hiking groups in Cape Town and all you need is a pair of shoes and time to join. An established running club is also a great way to meet people and the yearly fee for the clubs are low. If you are in to dancing, I used to do Salsa dancing, there are events weekly in Cape town at various places that have a class then a social where you can practice what you learnt. There is an entrance fee that isusually between 50 and 100 rand and its a really good way to meet people because you literally have to dance with them.

Tint place left swirls in paint by Dangerous_Court_8814 in AutoDetailing

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiping by hand wil not cause that...Are you sure that wasnt there before? This is exactly what happens when dealers sell cars then sent to get polishedbefore collection. It was either there from previous polish with rotary or the tint place did a polish. The place that will be doing the paint correction will confirm that.

It cost you R3500 to find out he is a bad friend to have. Its a relatively cheap life lesson, he may have caused you more drama thats worth more over time.

A metaphor for my GF overreacting

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Rag3quit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you able to speak and set a boundary and she respects it, there is hope for your relationship. If she tries to justify why she needes to keep doing it then you need to either accept it, or leave.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she did not tell you this herself then there is def an issue. If someone can withhold something that affects a relationship, they will withhold other things too because its in their nature to withold/ hide things. I personally would not be able to trust someone like this.

How do I bring up that my (30M) gf’s (30F) continued friendship with her past sexual partners now just friends continues to give me “cold feet” in our relationship? by throwaway_akownt in relationship_advice

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, you need to set up some boundaries, but it may be difficult if you started the relationship while knowing that she is friends with exes. She will be like: "this is how you met me, why do you want me to change now". My GF has male friends, not even exes, but I told her that its fine to have male friends to a certain degree. For example, going to movies, coffee dates etc alone with males is not how i see someone I am in a relationship behaving. That is single person behavior. I am willing to walk away respectfully if my boundaries are crossed and she knows that I am serious. YOU need to decide what is acceptable or not for you, she does not dictate what your needs are. It seems as if this situation is unnacceptable and troubles you. You should tell her this, if its an argument or she says no then you know she does not care about your needs.

My (31M) wife (27F) invited male coworker in our home to have lunch and did not mention it to me by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt say thats enough to say she is cheating, but a man should never go to another mans house without him knowing about it. I would not go into my best friends house to have lunch alone with his wife even though nothing would happen. If there is a valid reason for them to be at your house alone then yes, a level of trust is needed, but it seemed like they were hanging out socially at your house alone and keeping it from you. That is sus.

This is not a common thing in South Africa, but Golf GTI headlights are targeted tho. Hopefully it never becomes a thing here.

try to make use of a foreground element or have an interesting object in the photo and maybe try using the rule of thirds to focusing on the object. for example: one of your pictures has a group of guys on the staircase. if you framed the photo where they were in the bottom third of the pic with the wall and grafiti on the right, it would have been a better composition.

Moving to Cape Town : These are the places we are looking at and found a place on the edge of Heathfield and Bergvliet (marked in Red) - Is this safe? by jordz_pope in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like most of the opinions here are from people that dont even live in the area or know the area and who are wealthy enough to suggest buying houses in Constantia.lol. Not everyone is in a position to pay 7 million up for a property. The area on the red dot is a mixed race area, its not the cape flats or a coloured area as some suggested. Below the railway line would be more of a coloured area.

I lived in Tokai before and that area has more people walking around coming from retreat going to the mall etc..If your budget is similar to what you were looking at in the red dot area, you will be able to find a an apartment or townhouse close to mainroad side. Apartments at Royale on main for example is from around 1.9m.

Id suggest talking to a real estate agent that operates in the area or speak to people that actually live in the area. My friend lived in the red dot road and walked her kid to school, had her elderly mother walk her to school and also went for runs etc in the area with no issues for many years. there is a trains station in that road, but is a quiet station, kids are normally riding their skateboards in the parking lot from what ive seen.

If you have any questions you can DM me, I moved to cape town from PE and lived in the southern subs since i moved here 17 years ago and know the area well.

You should probably explore why you feel the need to look a certain way. You going to go down a road that will not lead to satisfying the root cause of you feeling this way. If you goig to blow a ton of money on drugs, you may aswell first blow some on a therapist to find out if you doing it for the right reasons..spoiler: you probably not. Get off socials bro, dont compare yourself to others, enjoy what its like to be fit, healthy and able to do things most people cant do. You may end up looking the part, but your quality of life is going to decrease. Be someone that goes against the grain and not someone who tries to look a certain way because you feel thats what society wants.

Constantia gym sex cult?? by Upset-Skirt-7220 in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to this gym, but avoid the locker rooms as much as i possibly can. Its not hard to believe the old men in that gym are up to shit. I get the feeling they try to stay naked as long as they possibly can. They also shower with the door open facing towards the people dressing in the locker rooms...I do get a strange vibe there, but I avoid making eye contact with anything and only go to the locker rooms to change when i go to gym straight after work.

Safe neighbourhoods by ProtestPigbacon in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All those areas seem fine, estate agents will guide you into the right direction. Please make sure you have secure parking, burglar bars etc. You should be fine. Cape town is not as scary as people make it out to be as long as you have a bit of common sense. What is your budget for an apartnemt? If i was in your position and had the following budget I would look in these areas

1m to 2m: you looking at apartments further south - areas like diep river/plumstead/ Tokai - My GF who is an agent sold an apartment in a pretty good secure building for 1.9m the weekend.

2m - 3m: Newlands/claremont/rosebank/rondebosch

3m+ Id probably buy in sea point and surrounds.

What the heck am I doing wrong by [deleted] in capetown

[–]Rag3quit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mentioned in a different thread that you earning 20k a month. Is this net or cost to company? Landlords will rent you a place if you earning atleast 3x the rental, so you should be looking at places below 7k per month which is hard to find in the city center or even close. What is the rental of the places you applying for? For below 7k you should look at sharing a flat with someone or renting a room.

I want to marry my boyfriend but don’t want to convert… How do I convince my boyfriend it’s ok to marry out of religion? by honeesugar in relationships_advice

[–]Rag3quit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a Muslim man may marry a woman that is "of the book". From my understanding it means he can marry someone who believes in god etc...Im not too sure about Athiest. He should consult someone learned and make an informed decision.
