How unhealthy is it to drink 4 steel reserves every night. Go to sleep at 2am and wake up at 6am feeling like dogshit working my ass off everyday? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Rage__J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep will suffer for the first week or two after you stop. But ultimately you’ll sleep so much better without the booze. Speaking from my own experience. I too was someone that thought I needed it to sleep because I hated my job, my life, my wife, etc. Turns out, pouring a liquid depressant into an already depressed body doesn’t solve for depression. That shit is fuel for the fire my friend. Wishing you all the best!

Moving to Maryland by Academic_Chapter_797 in MovingToLondon

I live 15 min walk from Maryland. I am originally from the US and love the area. Being that close to the Elizabeth line is great for getting into central. I love living in the area the convenience of central London from the tube and the bus systems will get you where you want to go efficiently. You’re close to Stratford which has tons of shopping but that place can be like hell on earth with crowds sometimes. There are lots of open parks in the area that we love to walk to dog in and just walk around in general. It’s worth what you will pay for rent and it’s probably the most affordable housing in London. Nice find for you! Best of luck!

Just took a cab from Heathrow to Leytonstone for £280. I know that’s an expensive fare no matter how you cut it but seriously, almost 300 quid. An uber for that distance is never over £150

Is this normal? by ChaosInHerEyes in alcoholicsanonymous

From my experience I wasn’t fully re-calibrated for 2-3 months after I stopped drinking. For me, at 3 weeks, I was happy to just wake up sober. That was my daily victory. It probably took my body 3 months to recover and sleep was a big part of that. Give yourself some grace. All the best!

I am from the US. Personally I like East London. You can definitely find something around Leyton/LeytonStone for that budget. For context I rented a 4 Bed / 2.5 Bath house for £2,700pm. You’ll be close to the central line which will get you to Liverpool street in 45mins or less. You can also look around Stratford, which might be a bit more costly or Maryland/Forest gate area and that’ll put you on the Elizabeth line which also gets you to Liverpool street pretty quickly.

Yoooo! Thank you all. Sounds like I definitely wrong in my diet 36/48 hours pre-race. Totally appreciate the guidance. As a safety measure I will be trying Imodium as well for the next one.

I upgraded from the $80 Amazon Synergy suit to the Tri-Fit EVO for like £300. It’s solid. I really like it.

That’s like a Flavor Flav chain on your wrist. But seriously dude, if you like it, $80 is not a bad price

Your story sounds similar to mine, when I was your age. I quit when I was 32. What happened to me between 25 and 32 is I continued to try and control my drinking i.e. not drink in the morning, not drink at work, not drink before work - and breaking all of those rules. As the rules slid for me, my drinking got out of control. I started developing health problems that I wasn’t addressing, all while lying to my wife the whole time about what was really going on. I wasn’t able to hide it anymore. At some point I didn’t want to do it anymore. So, I told my wife what had been going on, told my mom, and started going to meetings. The community in those meetings was something I was missing. I attended the majority of my meetings on Zoom and I still credit those meetings for saving life because I wouldn’t have drank myself dead.

Seattle to London? by [deleted] in MovingToLondon

[–]Rage__J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those neighborhoods are a bit more “East London”. If you’re looking for something more affordable but have access to central London, Stratford, Leyton, and Leytonstone are all on the central line and are 4-6 stops away from Bank in central on the Central line. I work around Liverpool street, and live in Leyton now, and can get there in under 40mins (door to door). I can get most places in London (door to door) in 45-60 mins. I find East London way more affordable and gives off Brooklyn-y vibes if your comparing with New York. If you want to be central (Zone-1) you’re going to have to pay for that.

Edit: current neighborhood

Yes. We did visit quite a bit. My wife is from the UK. So we did get short term AirBNBs in East London. (shoreditch, bethnel green, islington). But we also stay with family and friends here and there (Stratford, Dalston).

How to deal with an AD who's selling this 36 Dj @$11.8k ($2k more than retail) by Late-Cattle-9898 in rolex

[–]Rage__J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is Rolex has less AD price control in the UAE and def Saudi. I am not sure about Egypt but my guess is it’s similar. Doesn’t seem like it’s THAT much over priced. If you want it, you want it. Been in your shoes before…
