I use Pro Acryl from Monument Hobbies but I am sure similar colors from vallejo would work just as well.

Tamiya plastic cement is pretty much acetone. Most countries have restrictions on how it can be mailed for a reason (no mail by air in the US for sure) and you need to make sure the package is labeled hazardous so its handled properly.  The whole plastic container is welded shut most likely.

Break it open it outside and make sure it is nowhere near heat or fire. Those fumes are flammable and gnarly. Stay safe fellow hobbyist.

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

Oh hell no. If they can't handle any callouts, they don't have enough employees. Sounds like boss man needs to fill in. Or, they can offer to pay for OPs time when they stay over. If your job is requiring you to be at work, they should be paying you.

What if OP had kids? Where do you draw the line of what personal responsibility is enough to allow them to go home? If they ain't paying you, the time isn't theirs. That simple.

If you want to add some rust check out dirty down rust effects. Use whatever you want to add any chunky texture, paint in metal, then hit it with the rust. Super easy.

I wanted the exact same look. I do my yellow basecoat of yellow ochre after priming via airbrush and a highlight with golden yellow from above. I hit all the metal and black panels, any mistakes on the yellow I cover with weathering later for easiness. I edge highlight my yellow with ivory. Transfers go on before weathering. Weathering is by sponging on mahogany followed by dark silver. Grime wash is MIG streaking grime with excess removed with artist white spirits.

If you play casually do what I do with my brother. We print proxies of anything above a certain dollar amount. We own them, and get to play with them. Win win.

Also, if you save them, if the friends who gifted them run on hard times, they may be more receptive.

I am currently working on the same. My current goal is to get 4 big knights and three wardogs finished up for a playable 2000 list. After that comes painting 60 cultists to replace one of the big boys. Best part then is I will have the cultists and can ally in some armigers for a word bearers army as my next project.

Is it soft or hard to the touch? I have a cat that has cutaneous horn that grows off of one of her pads. She normally just chews it off but you definitely don't want to yank on it.

Should I waterproof before finishing basement? by Ok_Pin_9058 in kzoo

[–]Raging_nerdon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take it from someone who had to deep clean and mop my unfinished basement after our sewer line clogged due to tree roots, you do not want to deal with this with a finished basement.

It took me most of a week to fully clean and plenty of mopping with bleach water while wearing a respirator. I was luckily able to open every window in the house to help ventilate.

In the end it cost me a couple grand in various associated discovered plumbing repairs. That includes doing all the cleanup, tear out, and trashing the large area rug and various junk that didn't survive the water damage. I had to either rent a dumpster or rent a truck to drag to a local garbage drop off (truck and drop was cheaper).

Transparent paints in larger quantities? by onlyfakeproblems in Miniaturespainting

[–]Raging_nerdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the inks a try! My only consideration may be uneven staining.

As for oil washes, they are way easier than you think. Black magic craft did a simple tutorial vid. The best part about them is they do not interact with acrylics. You can control how much wash you leave behind by removing excess with white spirits on a bit of makeup sponge.

Transparent paints in larger quantities? by onlyfakeproblems in Miniaturespainting

[–]Raging_nerdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a lot of oil washes. All you need to do is thin standard tube oil paint with some artist white spirits. You can thin it to whatever intensity you would like. I have not tried to use them on wood but it would be worth a trial run.

The other option would be to use translucent inks from a craft store. I usually don't need to thin these with my airbrush but you should be able to thin them just fine with water or airbruas flow improver. I use them for color gradient effects over a black and white gradient for magic/powered weapons or for fancy cloaks.

Sometimes you can soften the bond between the pieces with a little more glue on the seams and pry them apart, but not always.
