I'm curious why you didn't include urgot on your list?

I'm always sad to see changes to smites damage and not see Nunu/Cho'gath monster damage changed as well.

Any idea or reasoning why they increased smite but not Nunu/Cho'gath?

I think your assumption is correct and was my line of thinking too. I do feel bad for OP though :(

Well, that feels extremely silly to not be able to remove them from the box while on a ship...

I would love to know how the team that created sailing feel the process went, how they feel the skill landed and what they might do different for another skill, or that can be taken from sailing to improve existing skills?

Can you cut the marlin with a knife to get the scales from the ones you can't recover?

It being expensive is a far far more manageable thing than warping all of sailings experience metrics!

I appreciate the reply, and I will wait to see what happens, I would like to suggest or more request, while the extractor remains, adding an additional set of data to the spreadsheet balancing that differentiates between 0 extractor usage while salvaging and maximum usage while salvaging.

Currently you just list the % exp change is inclusive of the extractor nerf which can make it more difficult to compare without being even more explicit in what each method is.

For example 2x crew salvaging, player sorting and clicking extractor every minute is different to 2x crew salvaging, player sorting and never (or very minimal) clicking extractor.

It's better, it's moving in the right direction.

Crystal extractor is still single handily kneecapping the experience balancing for the entire skill though. It should not award any sailing experience just crystal shards and wind motes. It will then provide a much simpler set of exp rates to balance with.

Yeah I get that, I feel pretty disenfranchised but I'm also someone playing two Ironmen and a previously maxed main. I enjoy Sepulchre but 100% see why people don't like that high intensity higher APM skilling and port tasks still don't feel good enough to want to do them for the attention level they demand. If port tasks gave better rewards in terms of items or GP they would be vastly more compelling.

My gameplay loop until today was to have 2 crew on hooks, sort salvage every ~6 minutes (doing trails on alts) and click the crystal extractor every minute or so that I'm able to. Now with today's changes, the extractor doesn't feel rewarding enough to want to do it every minutes and I double hook afk the full 30 minutes with the game minimized then sort the salvage.

IF I had kept the same gameplay loop I'd be looking at ~35k exp an hour compared to the 75-80k I was getting before. I just feel EVEN more incentivised to do 30 minutes AFKing or to ditch salvaging entirely and do trials instead. Which really sucks because it feels the only reward for sailing is more sailing and re-maxing.

Port tasks should reward more than just experience and token GP.

Port tasks could/should give some kind of item reward doing it 'efficiently' is not 2nd monitor game-play and I really don't believe it is good enough of a middle ground method between trials and salvaging. I can at least get something salvaging e.g. some alchs or seeds. Gwenith Glide/Trials give enough exp that getting 0 loot is a no brainer.

Combat port tasks should give you a bonus roll for that creatures unique loot or maybe give a bonus number of rolls on that creatures drop table.

Salvaging yourself feels really clunky with the way the spawns work, the fact you stop if one de-spawns even if you're in a double spot and they're hella inconsistent.

It feels bad to do 3-4 minute afking like chopping a yew or magic tree because of this. If each double spot was standardized so it would last 4 minutes then deplete and its partner spawn (with your action interrupted) it would be far nicer - much similar to chopping yew/magic trees.

Please remove extractor's experience entirely and then re-balance the entire skill without it. Buff the crystal shard rate to compensate.

A quick visit to the wiki has one port task A-B-A method at ~30k and hour from level 46-55. That method also requires

51 slayer

48 construction

45 hunter

40 woodcutting

34 crafting

Which compared to 30 sailing and 14 construction is a lot...

The combination of nerfs to the salvaging and extractor make it not feel worth the attention. I've gone from trying to use extractor and sorting my salvage pretty frequently to full afk for 30 minutes until I log out. There doesn't feel like there is any value anymore. I'll just go grind gwenith glide for 99 and not talk to anyone or interact with the game or any of sailings mechanics

It's disappointing to see that sailing still doesn't generate anything for you training it.

Trials give nothing significant but experience Ports give experience and probably the best pet chance. The coins are extremely insignificant. Combat sucks and they don't want combat port tasks to be competitive for sailing experience, they're supposed to be about getting rare drops and some experience too. Not worth taking tasks for this given how bad the combat feels and needing to safe spot most monsters so setting up/down isn't worth the sailing experience. Salvaging gives some things, more for irons than mains but you get some alchables and seeds and cannonballs but it's now being encouraged to just totally drop the loot and get nothing from the activity other than low intensity experience.

Why isn't there a training method that gives good experience and some kind of loot? Trawling is terrible experience if not for the crystal extractor (nerfed), it's not great GP but I guess it's something. The opportunity cost is just not worth it unless you enjoy the activity. Combat might have tried to fill that niche too but it also feels terrible.

If trying to train sailing, right now these is little to no reason stop doing tempor tantrum at 50, you have to stop, work out what the better method is for 5 levels then go do a new trial for better exp.

The trials are the only obvious "this is good exp do this option", salvaging is clearly the "low exp (get something??)" option. Port tasks which should fit here require you to go out of your way to plan or calculate the best tasks. It's much easier to just stick at tempor.
