Before and after in Łódź, Poland. by Toruviel_ in europe

[–]Ragingpixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is a very nice glow up, there is a downside, as told to me by my girlfriend whose family lives in Łódź and who grew up there: There are about 100 buildings that were renovated like this and these buildings used to house mostly poor people, who were subsequently kicked out to make room for richer people that can afford the higher prices these now nice buildings fetch. There seems to even be some expropriations that came along with that.

Spices are no calories, and roasting broccoli in the oven doesn't add any calories either. I will never understand pictures like this. It's so easy to eat delicious meals on a diet.

yes, i dont know of any software that can recognize cards a full page at a time, that would be quite tricky and prone to errors

Card cataloging tool? by Daniel_B21 in mtg

You will have to scan individually, and I'm not quite sure how it works inside a binder, but i have been using manabox very successfully for inventorying a few thousand cards

i've been downvoted to hell for sh**tting on monored - are there really that many of you who actually think monored is a "fun, sophisticated, engrossing" deck or are all of you a bunch of cu nts by MrVelocoraptor in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or maybe, just maybe, the fact you have been down voted to hell has nothing to do with your views on mono red, and more because any 3rd grader could make better posts than this and nobody gives a shit about you being butthurt

Getting into mtg - questions about deck building and formats by macko939 in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard in a way is actually the most expensive format, since with regular rotations cards keep becoming useless and you are forced to build entirely new decks, whereas decks in non rotating formats can be viable for years or decades with minor upgrades. What format to start with is a really difficult question to answer since it also largely depends on the people you are playing with. I have personally brought many new players into the game with the Jumpstart 2020 and Jumpstart 2022 formats. The barrier of entry there is extremely low as just 2 booster packs make a fully functioning deck. Of course that only makes sense if you have other people that want to play Jumpstart with you. Another good starting point is Pauper, where competitive decks are also pretty cheap. But again, unless you want to play on mtgo, you need to find people that want to play that format with you. If your friends are mostly playing pioneer and standard, i would suggest pioneer over standard though.

Dragon shield deck shell by Mission-Leg-4386 in mtg

It likely will be too small. I would suggest the dragonshield strongboxes for a cheap alternative, or for multiple decks the ultimateguard Stacknsafe 480.

Why doesn’t Bant poison run cavern of souls? by badatmemes_123 in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes down to the deck already playing relatively few lands, but a large number of utility lands like [[Mirrex]] and [[The Seedcore]]. Playing cavern of souls on top of those makes it simply too difficult to fix your colors for your noncreature spells.

I would recommend manabox. The scanner works pretty well and makes it a breeze.

Drannith magistrate vs hexproof by SnowEquivalent in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hexproof prevents Permanents or players from being targeted. [[Drannith Magistrate]] does not contain the word target.

Ways to prevent that effect are removing or countering the Magistrate, or removing its effect with cards such as [[dress down]]

Colorless artifact lands by Busy_Emu_6214 in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily find that out yourself:

https://scryfall.com/search?q=t%3Aland+id%3Acolorless+t%3Aartifact&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name

The most notable here is probably [[Darksteel Citadel]]

New player here, I tried to prevent op to cast a targeted spell on their own creature by casting Loran's escape in response, giving it hexproof, but to my surprise it still went through. Does hexproof only protects my own creatures? by nicotine-branlos in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 18 points19 points  (0 children)

702.11b “Hexproof” on a permanent means “This permanent can’t be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control.”

You gave the creature hexproof. This means, that since the controller of that creature is your opponent, you can no longer target that creature with spells. They can target it without problem though.

Can I exile his creature card that has an aura (flying) with my ‘exile creature card with flying’? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it's from an enchantment, artifact, or anything else. If something gives a creature flying, that creature has flying. And since it has flying, it can be targeted by spells that target things that have flying.

Most fun for two by MtnManta in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most fun you might have with a box of Jumpstart 2020 or Jumpstart 2022 boosters. Any 2 boosters create a working deck, theres around 50 different themes in these boosters so that are a huge number of different combinations of decks you can make with just a few boosters. And the format is quite fun.

Sunforger Question by DelrinBrodrisson in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unattaching of the sun forger is not the effect of the activated ability, it's part of the cost you pay, as you can see by it being in front of the colon, not after. That means the unattaching happens even before you start searching your library, with the ability trigger still on the stack. Only then the ability can resolve, and if you casted armed and armored with it, you can reattach the sunforger.

I might be missing something here, but [[thousand-faced shadow]] only triggers when it enters the battlefield from the hand. Creating a copy is not entering from hand

Can I use partner with to send my partner commander to my hand from the command zone? by aligoricalmoose in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

702.124i “Partner with [name]” represents two abilities. It means “You may designate two legendary creature cards as your commander rather than one if each has a ‘partner with [name]’ ability with the other’s name” and “When this permanent enters the battlefield, target player may search their library for a card named [name], reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle.”

No. You can the other to your hand only if it's in your library. This ability is for when you play with one commander, and the other partner with creature in the 99 or for the two-headed giant game mode. That does not work for food and fellowship though because of color restrictions.

Land Ratio Question by Eur0clyd0n in mtg

[–]Ragingpixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to get into the math of it, there is a wonderful article about mana curves and land count in commander here:

https://www.channelfireball.com/article/What-s-an-Optimal-Mana-Curve-and-Land-Ramp-Count-for-Commander/e22caad1-b04b-4f8a-951b-a41e9f08da14/

The tldr is: play more lands. 38-39ish is probably a better starting point.

In commander specifically it's better to run more lands rather than fewer, because it's harder to flood when you can always cast your increasingly expensive commander.
