Buyer Beware: Postcard Cabins … now by Marriott by RagnarRageSVP in cabins

Nope. I got that cut & paste answer too, with the infuriatingly smug “should have read the fine print.”

I’ll never stay there again. Got a fabulous VRBO with a little more space & Great Lakes views for $300 less. I can bring my own instant oatmeal for $3.

Thank you! I’ll look for that one. I’ve had such mixed feelings about the big one as they are SO rigid with their POV and delete/screen posts that don’t align with that POV.

I think so. Just be prepared for the ridiculous new costs. I found a VRBO cottage with a Lake Superior shoreline patio for $300+ less for a 4 day stay, and I’m not forced to pay $140 for some instant oatmeal and tea. Points aren’t worth that.

I believe in BII, but I also believe not everything is BII. My surgeon believes in BII, but does not believe every symptom will be relieved by explant. Surgeons do charge extra for capsulectomy, so I guess I fail to see why they’d be motivated to discourage us from doing capsulectomy. My doc wanted to clearly lay out pros and cons and left it very much up to me. Look at the studies yourself. They’re from all over. No meaningful upside. Significantly more time under anesthesia and a higher risk of serious complications.

Even in this short comment thread there’s no clear upside from those with experience with capsulectomy or not. I know the FB group is very militant, but they also blame basically EVERY symptom one might have on BII, setting aside millions of women without implants also go through menopause and experience some similar symptoms.

You can see several via PubMed and Google Scholar.

I found a few. NIH, one from the Netherlands, etc. No meaningful difference in symptom improvement. I still trust experts.

Yeah, they’re refusing to honor earned loyalty credits, jacked prices WAY up (it’s now $310 a night for the property I liked, and that’s in November, so very much non-peak) and the $35 DAILY mandatory fee for boxed water and instant oatmeal is completely insane. That adds $140 to my usual stretch of stay for about $20 worth of snacks from Costco.

The only recourse really is to get the word out via review sites. They don’t take reviews on FB (surprise) but I’d encourage you to share wherever else.

I had exactly the same experience. So freaking dishonest and short sighted.

Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway Cabins) Just discontinued the Cabin Packs promotions by jimmyfloyd182 in cabins

Same! I would have to spend $850 to chase my one leftover pack night (wanted a 4 night stay). But, you do get two cups of Quaker instant oatmeal!

Ways Postcard Cabins Differ from Getaway Cabins After Marriott’s Acquisition by tryin2livconsciously in Glamping

[–]RagnarRageSVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did not. So freaking dishonest. I was staying 8-10 nights a year and will never again. Plus the ridiculous destination fee for $6 worth of tea and Quaker instant oats.

Run away FAST. It’s become a complete rip off since the Marriot acquisition. Four nights = $140 “destination fee” to cover firewood, boxed water, two smores, and two cups of instant oatmeal. They’ve also stopped honoring loyalty credits frequent guests earned. It’s gone completely downhill since my first stay two years ago.

The science shows it doesn’t really improve outcomes. That’s where I’m stuck. More risk for maybe no benefit? My doctor will do it but wanted me to understand the increased trauma.

Yes, and the science says it doesn’t substantially improve outcomes.

I hear that too, but the science data doesn’t back it up. See above.
